This new musical brings the story of how early Chinese immigrants were an integral part of building America.

The Woodstock Playhouse presented its full-scale production of David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly with music by Lucia Hwong, for one weekend only at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19 with a Sunday, November 20 matinee at 2 p.m. at the Playhouse.

THEATER 2020, Brooklyn Heights' NY award winning professional theater company has announced its Autumn 2022 run of the rarely seen Stephen Sondheim musical revue “You're Gonna Love Tomorrow,” in a limited run of 16 performances, Thursday, October 13th - Sunday, November 6th, 2022. Press/Industry is invited beginning Friday, October 14th.

Bill Castellino directs and choreographs. Cast members include Almeria Campbell, Victoria Casillo, Daniela Delahuerta, Matthew Liu, Jesse Manocherian, Sarah Nandola, Pearl Rhein, Noah Ruebeck, Hansel Tan, and Miles Whittaker. Twenty-five performances will be staged from April 23 – May 22, 2022, at Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre, 338 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 11201.

With performances beginning April 23rd, Nancy Manocherian’s the cell theatre and Nightclub Cantata LLC, by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, will present  Elizabeth Swados’ 1977 breakout sensation Nightclub Cantata, a provocative, eclectic and heralded theatrical creation rarely seen since its inception decades ago. 

For Valentine's Day this year, Matthew Liu continued his tradition of putting on a show for all to enjoy at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, this year's all-new show titled 'I Will Be Here'.

Earlier last month, Matthew Liu made a splashy Broadway Solo Cabaret Debut at The Green Room 42 in his show 'Who's Matthew Liu???' on Friday, January 7. Fighting both a drop in temperatures and a rise in Omicron numbers, Matthew nevertheless (safely) filled the house to entertain all with his uplifting and be-there-to-believe-it stories and songs.

he Green Room 42 has announced their January line-up for in-person performances in addition to launching reWINEd, a new streaming series where you can rewatch some favorite recent shows paired with at-home drink recommendations from each artist. 

Fresh from music directing in Mandarin for Nederlander Worldwide in China, Juilliard grad Matthew Liu makes the leap from orchestra pit to the spotlight with a concert of original songs, hot takes on pop music and stories about being a bit too Chinese for America, a bit too 'colorful' for China, too cabaret for conservatory and just enough of all of them to be a lot of fun.

Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment partners with Shaanxi Tourism Group'sLegend Performances to present Sound of the Silk Road. The original Mandarin-language musical, helmed by award-winning Broadway director Gabriel Barre (Amazing Grace, The Wild Party), features a book by Marc Acito, music by Peter Kam and lyrics by Liang Man. 

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presented dancer/singer Evan Ruggiero (Drama Desk Award Nominee, Bastard Jones) and his band The S'Evan Legs in concert on Monday, August 27. Evan and the band (Justin Garcia, Brendan Daily, Will Dougherty, Max Adler, Joe Gullace, Rich Cush and Dave Berrios) performed their ultimate show at Birdland. Nicole Loewenstein and Michael Taylor Robinson were special guest vocalists. The high-energy performance included classic rock n' roll fused with Broadway and current chart topping hits.

Nancy Manocherian's the cell (Artistic Director, Kira Simring) will present the Off Broadway Premiere of BASTARD JONES, a rock musical comedy based on Henry Fielding's bawdy 18th century novel, The History of Tom Jones. With book, lyrics, & direction by Marc Acito (Broadway's Allegiance) and music & lyrics by Amy Engelhardt (Grammy nominees The Bobs), performances begin June 14 at the cell. Opening is slated for Thursday, June 22.

"It's not unusual to be loved by anyone…" Admittedly, this is the wrong Tom Jones and yes, I may have stolen this little pun from the show's opening narrative, but that Mr. Jones was on the perfect track to describing what chaos ensues in the life of a man whom everyone adores: the literary Tom Jones. A man who cannot limit his constant self-indulgence but is yet still seen as a good man despite his ill reputed sexual conquests. As a disgrace to both his family and a disappointment to those who truly feel for him, his reputation is one that follows him as a sort of fate; and to reverse fate, some pretty drastic things have to happen. Turn all of this into a musical and what we now have is Bastard Jones, an incredibly clever, zany and sexy raucous of a show that is as funny as it is profound. Now in performances at the Cell, this is just the sort of guilty fun that everyone is looking for and, for a little over two hours, will bring such joy to your heart and a "tingle" to everywhere else - prepare yourselves indeed.
