Chicago Tap Allstars, a collective of Tap dance artists and organizations brought together by M.A.D.D. Rhythms and Chicago Tap Theatre, commemorates National Tap Dance Day with a weekend that includes free and paid workshops, lectures, history lessons, a viewing party and a Tap Jam, Friday, May 24 - Sunday, May 26 at the Harold Washington Cultural Center, 4701 S. Chicago Tap Allstars, a collective of Tap dance artists and organizations brought together by M.A.D.D. Rhythms and Chicago Tap Theatre, has announced a new show for the holiday season, “Winter Wonderland,” Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Harold Washington Cultural Center.

The Midwest Trust Center (formerly Carlsen Center) presents their signature variety of top-tier artists this October.

Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) concludes its 20th Anniversary season with the world premiere of “Synesthete,” at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave., June 8 - 11 with the press opening June 8 at 8 p.m.

Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT), now celebrating its 20th anniversary season, is proud to announce that Sterling Harris (he/him/his) has been promoted to a new position, artistic associate, at Chicago Tap Theatre. CTT Company Member and Production Manager Molly Smith (they/them/theirs) assumes the role of rehearsal director vacated by Harris. They come to the organization with years of experience teaching, performing and choreographing.

M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Chicago's premier tap collective, continues to celebrate Chicago's Year of Chicago Dance and its 21st Season with the return of the Chicago Tap Summit, September 30 – October 1, appearances, performances, classes, the continuation of its 2022 fundraiser and new episodes on its podcast network.

See Chicago Dance, the dance industry's nonprofit service organization, and its Executive Director Julia Mayer, kicked off their 10th Chicago Dance Month, this year in conjunction with the city’s Year of Chicago Dance campaign, Saturday, May 28 at Navy Pier’s Lake Stage. The launch included a sample of Chicago’s dance community and 2022 Chicago Dance Month offerings.

The 2021 festivities, designed to celebrate the tap dance community, feature a hybrid format of classes, panels, performances, world premieres and more with M.A.D.D. Rhythms faculty, Chicago tap pioneers and dance boundary breakers among many others.

Chicago Tap Theatre presents Tap Secret!, Sunday, July 10, at 3 and 7 p.m. live at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, 9501 Skokie Blvd.  In Tap Secret!, it's the 90s and pop music is under attack and only Paulie, a young dancer's rhythm can save it.

M.A.D.D. Rhythms will continue its 20th Anniversary celebration in May with a day of special events in partnership with Chicago Tap Theatre to celebrate National Tap Dance Day 2021 including intermediate and advanced classes, a Tap and Jazz history lecture, and a performance featuring many of Chicago's all-star tap performers.

Randolph St.  Sweet Tap Chicago is a celebration of Chicago musicians and music, with all new arrangements by Kurt Schweitz, a live jazz quintet featuring rapper/singer/host Taylor Mallory and tap dancing.  Musicians and bands to be covered include Chicago, Smashing Pumpkins, Chaka Khan, Curtis Mayfield and more. Doors open one hour prior to start time and the running time of the performance is one hour and twenty minutes including one short break. Tickets are $40 for reserved admission seating and may be purchased at ChicagoTapTheatre.com, by calling 800-440-8539 or at the door, pending availability.
