The Kennedy Center today announced Bob Saget as Roastmaster in The District of Comedy Roast of James Carville to be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Regarding his role in the event, Saget stated "I cannot tell you how excited I am to be the host of the James Carville roast. I am equally excited to find out who he is." Saget takes over as Roastmaster for Lewis Black, who will no longer be able to participate in the event due to unforeseen changes in his professional schedule.

The Just For Laughs Festival, presented by Videotron in association with Loto-Quebec, continues to roll out the biggest names in comedy as they add even more star power to the 80-plus shows already announced for Montreal this summer.

The National Comedy Center has acquired the archives of George Carlin. The acquisition was announced last night by the comedian's daughter, Kelly Carlin, at a private event in New York hosted by the Comedy Center.

On May 2nd, The 52nd Street Project held their annual benefit, LAUGHING MATTERS, Kids' Stand-up, Adults Deliver at the Edison Ballroom in New York. The raucous sold-out event hosted by comedians Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan, was The Project's most successful to date with over 350 people in attendance, raising funds for the Project's academic and artistic mentoring programming. The Project makes a difference in the lives of Hell's Kitchen (Clinton) kids by pairing them with theater professionals who mentor them through the creation of original theater. 1972: Dr. John Fryer dons an oversize tuxedo and rubber joke shop mask to become Dr. Henry Anonymous and confront the American Psychiatric Association with these words: 'I am a homosexual, I am a psychiatrist.' The latest work by renowned theatre artist Ain Gordon, 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous, is a new play drawn from the 217 boxes of archive materials from national LGBT activist of Dr. John Fryer discovered by Ain Gordon during his two-year embedded artist status at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP). This new work is set to run, May 5-7, at the Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street. All performances are at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20. Spring has sprung and while love is in the air at The Human Race, April showers loom for the characters of the theatre company's latest production, ONE SLIGHT HITCH. The production at The Human Race's downtown Dayton home at The Loft Theatre is directed by Margarett Perry and features actors Brian Dykstra and Rita Rehn, with Dana Berger, Alex Curtis, Cecily Dowd, Kyle Nunn and Alex Sunderhaus.
