Prospect Musicals has revealed details for the third week of events of the 2026 IGNITE Concert Festival, running in March at Baruch Performing Arts Center.

Live & In Color will present SOUTH ASIAN SONGBOOK: WRITING THE FUTURE OF MUSICAL THEATRE in New York City. The concert is part of Prospect Musicals’ IGNITE Festival. The event will feature new songs by South Asian musical theatre writers.

On Thursday, April 24 2025 writers Kate Rankine and Vaheed Talebian workshopped their new musical ‘Blood is Thicker’ as part of SandboxMusicals’ new Playspace program. Check out photos from the workshop.

SoHo Playhouse’s Lighthouse series is a competition, the first of its kind, specifically designed to showcase the best new talent and writers across the New York City area. ‘The Silver Child’, a new musical with book and lyrics by Trevor K. Coming off the massive success of the Lighthouse Series 2022's winner, JOB, with two sold out runs, and with the 2023 winner IT'S NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE primed to take the stage later this summer, SoHo Playhouse has announced the 2024 Lighthouse Series lineup.

Cast members and musicians of Broadway and various regional productions came together to record a socially distanced version of 'I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends', originally recorded by The Beatles, and famously covered by Joe Cocker.

Mabou Mines, the esteemed experimental theater company, and Weathervane Productions, in association with Philip Glass' Days and Nights Festival, add free documentary film screening and Promenade concert performance, and announce complete casting for a unique upcoming celebration of legendary playwright and director María Irene Fornés. The February 21-March 7 engagement centers on the New York premiere of Philip Glass' transformation of her five-page play Drowning into an opera and a version of Fornés' acclaimed Mud. JoAnne Akalaitis directs these two intimate productions-both with new music composed by Glass-at Mabou Mines (150 First Avenue).
