Live & In Color To Present SOUTH ASIAN SONGBOOK: WRITING THE FUTURE OF MUSICAL THEATRE At Baruch Performing Arts Center
The one-night concert event is part of Prospect Musicals’ IGNITE Festival.
Live & In Color will present SOUTH ASIAN SONGBOOK: WRITING THE FUTURE OF MUSICAL THEATRE on March 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Baruch Performing Arts Center as part of Prospect Musicals’ IGNITE Festival.
Hosted by Ari Afsar and Nina Davuluri, the concert will be directed by Devanand Janki, with music direction by Sheela Ramesh and production by Anuka Sethi.
The creative team will also include stage manager Ernie Fimbres, assistant stage manager Joshua Graham, and projection designer Angelina Noelle. The concert will feature songs by a range of writers including Ari Afsar, Utsav Bhargava, Luna Abréu-Santana, Emielyn Das, Harrison Lewis, Devanand Janki, Tommy Newman, Ruchir Khazanchi, Deepak Kumar, Jord Liu, Vaibu Mohan, Sheela Ramesh, Alison Luterman, Shyama Iyer, Sravya Saraswatula, Jonja Merck, SEVAN, and Cordela O’Driscoll.
Performers will include Ari Afsar, Nina Davuluri, Emielyn Das, Kristen Das, Savidu Geevaratne, Avaana Harvey, Nina Jayashankar, Ruchir Khazanchi, Saajan Lakhani, Vaibu Mohan, Shyama Iyer, SEVAN, Shashank RK, Sierra Lancaster, and Vikas Venuthurupalli, joined by Chris McWilliams on drums and Justin Rothberg on guitar.
The concert highlights new work by South Asian musical theatre writers, bringing together a range of voices and styles in a single evening.
