Nick Cordero Battles Infection in His Lungs; Says Kloots: '[It] Came Out of Nowhere'

'We had a bit of a rough day [Monday]. Nick ended up getting an infection in his lungs that went into his blood, so he went into a little bit of a septic shock. The cause of that was some infection in his lungs. They went in and cleaned out his lungs and gave him some blood pressure medication,' she says. 'This kinda came out of nowhere after two days of really great progress.' Doctors intend to keep Nick on antibiotics for the next seven days.
Doctors Unable to Remove Nick Cordero's Ventilator Today as Planned

His wife, fellow Broadway veteran Amanda Kloots, shared today on Instagram that doctors were unable to remove Nick's ventilator today as planned. 'Earlier this morning he got a fever, which caused his blood pressure to drop slightly. So he is back on a little bit of blood pressure medication,' she says. 'They are going to set aside the ventilator removal until they get [the fever] under control.'

The Broadway community continues to pray for Nick Cordero, who remains in a medically induced coma in a Los Angeles hospital after surgeons amputated his right leg because of complications from the coronavirus. His wife, fellow Broadway veteran Amanda Kloots shared an update today on Instagram: 'We got a pretty good report back from the MRI. There doesn't look to be anything that is inflicting Nick from waking up, which is a really good sign. It wasn't completely clear, and we're still waiting to hear from the neurologist,' she says. 'He's off all blood pressure medicine, which is huge. And they are slowly working on lowering the ventilator assistance, which is great.'

His wife, fellow Broadway veteran Amanda Kloots shared another update today on Instagram: 'Things are going pretty well. Nick is being weaned off the medicines and machines, which is really great progress. Mental status is still unchanged, so they want to do an MRI as soon as possible to further investigate what's going on with his brain and spine, just to cover all bases. That should be happening some time soon.'

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Broadway veteran Nick Cordero is currently fighting for his life against COVID-19.
His wife, fellow Broadway veteran and celebrity fitness instructor Amanda Kloots, just shared an update on his health status. 'His blood pressure is better! Dialysis is working. They've been able to drain fluids to help inflammation. We need him to wake up. They need to see him follow commands. Also, his right foot is not showing a pulse, but the wound looks better. Breathing is a bit fast this morning.'
