Susan Cinoman BIO


Susan CInoman is a playwright and television writer. Her comedy group, The Soubrettes, was her early start, creating the record, Bimbo Rap and Evil Coco and Other Primal Urges. She went on to have productions of plays in NC and internationally. Off Broadway productions include Gin and Bitters, and Cinoman and Rebeck at the Miranda Theatre, Sweet Sand at Ensemble Studio theatre and others. For television she created the recurring role of drama teacher, Miss Cinoman on ABC-TV's The Goldbergs. She has also written two award winning independent films, Love and Class in Connecticut and All Me, All the Time.
Cinoman's awards include The Maxwell Anderson Playwrights Award, Best Narrative Video, New England Film and Video Festival, Best Connecticut Filmmaker 2007, Berkshire Film Festival, Maine One-Act Play Festival Award,Ivoryton Theatre Elly Award and The Guilford Prize in Drama for Guenevere.

Pickering, is a British, actress and writer. She began writing for theatre in 2018, at Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble, with artistic directors Paul Calderon and David Zayas, also co-founding members of New York LAByrinth Theatre. In 2020, Pickering was accepted as a member of The League of Professional Theatre Women, as well as The International Centre of Female Playwrights.

The Guilford Performing Arts Festival (GPAF) is tripling its number of Artists' Awards this year to six, and the total grant money available to $15,000, in an effort to support the creation of new work by Connecticut performers and provide some relief for artists who have lost income during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bridge Initiative Offers Artistic And Financial Relief


The Bridge Initiative: Women+ in Theatre (TBI) offers a virtual series called SAI: Scratching our Artistic Itches. Every Sunday at 1pm, TBI presents a live, one-time-only reading of a unproduced play or a Pulitzer Prize winner. The playwrights are often in attendance and participate in the Q&A that follows. Actors are mostly from the Valley but some live in other parts of the country from Los Angeles to New York. And all participants receive a stipend for their time.
