Rehearsals have started for the National Theatre’s upcoming touring production of Evan Placey’s radical reimagining of Jekyll & Hyde. Following the success of the Jekyll & Hyde schools tour in 2022, the production will be seen by students from 60 state secondary schools across the country from 8 January – 16 March 2024. 

Tickets for the National Theatre’s upcoming season will go on sale to the public on Thursday 9 November.

From February 2024 the National Theatre will pilot a selected number of early evening performances at 6.30pm.

A major new play, 'Nye,' co-produced by the National Theatre and Wales Millennium Centre, will chronicle the life of influential political figure Aneurin 'Nye' Bevan. Michael Sheen will star as Bevan in this production directed by Rufus Norris.

As the National Theatre prepares to mark 60 years of entertaining and inspiring audiences around the world on 22 October, a birthday present of 3,600 free tickets, 60 tickets for 60 performances in October, will be available for 16–25-year-olds to book for productions on the South Bank and in the West End. Full casting has been announced for Séan Aydon’s brand-new adaption of Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein which will start a major UK theatre tour at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on 14 September, before playing 10 further venues around the country.

From the 20-24 June 2023 the National Theatre is celebrating youth theatre as ten youth theatre companies and school groups from across the UK will stage new plays in the Dorfman Theatre as part of its 2023 Connections Festival.
