Monumental Theatre Company will host its second annual Sunday Funday, a wintery-disco bottomless drag cabaret on December 17, 2023.

This evening, the 2023 Helen Hayes Awards took place at The Anthem on the District Wharf, with over 1,600 theatre-makers and theatre supporters in attendance. Esteemed Washington theatre artists Naomi Jacobson, Erika Rose, Holly Twyford, and Christopher Michael Richardson hosted an evening showcasing the vibrant and diverse community of professional theatre artists in the Washington region.

Nominations have been announced for the 37th Helen Hayes Awards, which will be presented on Monday, May 22. Nominees include productions from Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, GALA Hispanic Theatre and more.

Monumental Theatre Company will stage Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Spring Awakening. Based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 play of the same name, the story follows a group of German teenagers who discover and explore their sexual identities.

Monumental Theatre Company will be hosting Sunday Funday, a bottomless drag cabaret for two performances on November 27, 2022. This event will feature a cast of local musical theatre talent and singing drag queens, a three-piece band, as well as bottomless signature drinks.

Teal Wicks (Broadway's The Cher Show, Wicked) and Hugh Panaro (Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera, Side Show) are set to star as Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin in Signature Theatre's world premiere production of Camille Claudel with book and lyrics by Nan Knighton (Broadway's The Scarlet Pimpernel) and music by Frank Wildhorn (Broadway's Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel).

Following its sold-out run of Be More Chill in 2019, the Helen Hayes Award-winning Monumental Theatre Company will be producing three musicals for the upcoming 2020 season: Head Over Heels, The Drowsy Chaperone and Songs for a New World.

The new musical, Montgomery, with book, music, and lyrics by Britt Bonney will play for one performance at the Kennedy Center Page to Stage Festival. Monumental Theatre Company presented a workshop of the first act in 2018 at the 17th Annual Festival. The full length musical will be performed at this year's Festival on Saturday, August 31st at 10:30am.
