Broadway Press Agent Bob Ullman Passes Away at 97

Robert ('Bob') Ullman (left), the legendary theatre press agent, whose career included Ethel Merman and Mary Martin: Together on Broadway, A Chorus Line (from workshop to Public Theater to Broadway), Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in The Visit, Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower, The Dining Room, Driving Miss Daisy, Sunday in the Park with George, and over 150 additional Broadway and off-Broadway plays and musicals, died on July 31, 2019 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York. He was 97. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Bob's death was announced by Rev. Joshua Ellis, a long-time Ullman friend, a former Broadway press agent, and now, an Interspiritual minister.
Olympia Dukakis Teaches Series Of 3 Master Classes At United Solo

After the immense success of her previous classes, United Solo is bringing back Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis to teach a series of 3 Master Classes on consecutive Fridays starting August 30, 2019 in New York City. This is a rare opportunity to work with Ms. Dukakis over the course of three weeks, developing one's acting skills and receiving her direct feedback. The class series, 'The Importance of Craft,' will teach students to identify and develop what is important to them as performers. Ms. Dukakis will explain how to approach the craft of acting as a personal connection to thoughts, actions, circumstances, and character, as expressed and defined by the text. 'My most important tools when I teach are my own sensibility, my personal perceptions, my knowledge of the craft, and the excitement and satisfaction I always feel with students,' said Ms. Dukakis.

Following a hugely successful eighth season, which included the Midwest Premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Social Creatures and the acclaimed short play festival, Today We Escape-inspired by Radiohead's OK COMPUTER -Tympanic Theatre Company is proud to announce its ninth season in Chicago, as well as the appointment of a new Artistic Director and co-Literary Managers. Outgoing Artistic Director Dan Caffrey, who will continue serving as part of the company's Literary and Marketing Committees, and incoming Artistic Director Christopher Acevedo are proud to announce the two plays that will be comprising Tympanic's ninth season:- Blueberry Toast by Mary Laws, and Paper City Phoenix by Walt McGough. In addition to announcing Acevedo as the new Artistic Director, the company also proudly announces the appointment of Ted Brengle and Joshua Ellison as co-Literary Managers.
