BIRDLAND THEATER will present the return of “Scunge! A Mobbed-Up Christmas Carol” – written by and starring Broadway’s Dominic Scaglione, Jr., Andy Karl, Dominic Nolfi, and Matt Bogart – from Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18.

Vincent Gogliormella, author of the off-Broadway hit Six Goumbas and a Wannabe, will be presenting his new play Love Goumbas Style at The Sheen Center on Thursday September 22, 2022.  

On September 14th (at 7pm) at the Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street) there will be a reading of “It Fell Off a Truck”, a full-length comedy by veteran PR man Jules Feiler, loosely based on the life of his own father. The piece centers on the relationship between the “tough guy” father (David Proval) his son, (Johnny Tammaro) and the daughter-in-law (Joli Tribuzio). It's a father and son reunion that after 20 years no one would mistake for a happy one.

The Honeyzoomers, the first series about the pandemic shot during the pandemic, has reached a creative milestone. Just like the classic TV series The Honeymooners, which inspired The Honeyzoomers, the web series has reached its 39th episode. 

While most of the theater world has gone dark, Louisa Vilardi has decided to have the lights come up on Zoom plays and writing specifically for that platform. This is her first play in a series of scripts that take place over the internet.

Comedian and Gracie award winning actress Mary Dimino is added to the cast of talent in the new comedy series a?oeThe Honeyzoomers,a?? a sitcom style online series about the pandemic shot during the pandemic. Each of the actors separately film scenes from their respective homes while in quarantine. 

Necessity is the mother of invention. Never has that been truer than in live entertainment during this pandemic. Many theatrical events have moved on line as a way to reach and keep their audiences. Now Intaglio Productions is following suit by producing their annual 7/19 Event via the internet.

Howl Playwrights is a theater group dedicated to nurturing and empowering the development of new works by emerging playwrights. The play development group meets once a week (now virtually!). Normally, the group met in Rhinebeck, NY. This group, facilitated and supervised by David Simpatico and Darrah Cloud, originated in 2013 at Half Moon Theatre and now independently stands as a play development group dedicated to cultivating new works.

The Wanderer, the new musical based on the life of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dion DiMucci, has found the cast for its workshop. Mike Wartella will play Dion himself, while Christy Altomare will play Dion's wife, Susan. Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block will play Johnny. The full cast is listed below!

THE WANDERER, written by Charles Messina, is a new musical based on the life of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Dion DiMucci. The play chronicles Dion's life from his early years in The Bronx through his rise to fame and confronts Dion's struggles with his musical identity, his battle with drug addiction, his spiritual awakening and his place in Rock n' Roll history.  Through a musical journey that spans decades, THE WANDERER follows the extraordinary life of an ordinary kid from New York City

As said in Arje's Shaw dramatic comedy Moolah, people are in constant change: from day to day and minute-to-minute, we gradually inch our way towards who and what we want to be. A sound enough philosophy - that is, until you factor in a transvestite right out of Bellevue who cuts hair by day and kills people by night, his cousin who cannot get enough money and a vengeful family that puts hits on their nearest and dearest. Being the person you wish to be is thwarted by trying to survive your family's attempt to kill you... if you only knew when they were coming.

Jones Street Productions presents the New York premiere of Moolah, a new comedy by Arje Shaw (The Gathering, Magic Hands Freddie). Directed by Charles Messina (A Room of My Own), the limited engagement plays 16 performances only, April 5 - 29 at Roy Arias Stage II (777 Eight Avenue, between 47th - 48th Streets). The official opening night is April 12 at 7:30PM. Tickets are currently on sale at Ovationtix.com.
