J. Scott Lapp Biography
has been working in the theatre business for over 30 years performing in over 100 shows in and around San Diego County. He is an award-winning Director and Choreographer with over 100 productions under his belt, having worked across the United States as well as Internationally. He is an alumnus of the Directors Lab West, a proud member of the SDC and a 2011 SDC Emerging Artist. He is also the Artistic Director of The California Center for the Arts, Escondido.Recent projects include directing the critically acclaimed hit, Once at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido and serving as the Associate Director on the world premiere West End production of The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre. He also recently directed a reading of Bottle Shock! The Musical and the Japanese Tour of Murder For Two that played in Tokyo, Osaka, Sendai & Matsumoto. He recently directed the world premiere production of Witnesses that has garnered rave reviews from the San Diego Union Tribune, Broadwayworld, Times-Advocate of San Diego and more at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

The latest show at The Public Theater of San Antonio is THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. Opening night was May 11, 2018.

This musical comedy includes music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, with a book by Austin Winsberg. First Date marks the opening of SDMT's 2017 Off Broadway Series and features direction by J. Scott Lapp, music direction by Jon Lorenz, and choreography by Allison Spratt Pearce. Performances run from March 31 - May 7, 2017 at the Horton Grand Theatre.

Presented by The Barn Stage Company, Cabaret at The Merc's Summer Series ends in September with the Tony Award-winning musical sensation, SPRING AWAKENING. Sondheim Unplugged, an acoustic evening of Sondheim tunes (featuring one song from every one of his major projects) will play The Coterie at The Hollywood Renaissance Hotel on June 2nd at 8:30PM. Prior to the Hollywood engagement, the concert produced by Jordan Beck and directed by J. Scott Lapp (Broadway's Bonnie & Clyde), featuring all new arrangements by David Lamoureux played at Caffeinated Cabaret in Downtown Riverside on May 20th and Cabaret at The Merc in Old Town Temecula this last Sunday night, May 27th.
