Bruce Kimmel Biography

Bruce Kimmel has had a long and varied career. He wrote, directed and starred in the cult movie hit, The First Nudie Musical. He performed those same duties on his second film The Creature Wasn't Nice (a.k.a. Naked Space), with Leslie Nielsen, Cindy Williams and Patrick Macnee. He also co-created the story for the hit film, The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez. As an actor, Mr. Kimmel has guest-starred on most of the long-running television shows of the Seventies, including Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, The Partridge Family, The Donny and Marie Show and many others.

Since 1993, Mr. Kimmel has been the leading producer of theater music on CD, having produced over one hundred and twenty-five albums. He was nominated for a Grammy for producing the revival cast album of Hello, Dolly! and his album with jazz pianist Fred Hersch, I Never Told You, was also nominated for a Grammy. He created the critically acclaimed Lost In Boston and Unsung Musicals series, has produced solo albums for Petula Clark, Helen Reddy, Liz Callaway, Laurie Beechman, Paige O'Hara, Christiane Noll, Judy Kaye, Judy Kuhn, Brent Barrett, Jason Graae, Randy Graff, Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley, and has worked with such legends as Lauren Bacall, Elaine Stritch and Dorothy Loudon. He has also produced many off-Broadway and Broadway cast albums, including the hit revival of The King and I, starring Lou Diamond Philips and Donna Murphy, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas starring Ann-Margret and Bells Are Ringing starring Faith Prince.

Bruce is also the author of two semi-autobiographical novels: Benjamin Kritzer and the followup Kritzerland which has just been released.

He is curently at work at directing a new film and he has adapted The First Nudie Musical for the stage. Mr Kimmel lives in California where he was born and raised.

Following a critically acclaimed world premiere opening September 12th at Burbank, California's Grove Theatre Center, Welcome to My World starring Sami Staitman has been extended through October 4th at the Grove Theatre in Burbank, CA. BroadwayWorld TV's own Michael Sterling was on hand for the opening to talk to the young Ms. Staitman; close friend and Disney Channel series star Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World); and the show's Grammy Nominated Producer/Director/Writer/Composer Bruce Kimmel. The first ever one-girl musical written for and about a fourteen-year-old, has also just completed recording sessions for the Kritzerland Records release of the show which will feature all 14 songs from the score, plus a bonus track of 'Everything is Going to be Alright' recorded by Fogelmanis who, during opening weekend, was on hand for a private Meet & Greet with fans who supported the production.

Thanks to performances and appearances by an exciting gathering of Broadway and Hollywood talent, and the greater Los Angeles community at large, the evening raised nearly $200,000. BWW TV's Los Angeles Correspondent and Co-Producer Michael Sterling, along with Co-Producer/Videographer Paul Preston of Digital Mind Productions, spoke to the stars as they walked the red carpet prior to the evening's festivities.
