This has been a busy season of innovation and reinvention at Teatro Live!, but there's one tradition to which they are adhering, and this is that a brand new play in the spring can be a wonderful thing. To that end, the company has the world premiere of Listen, Listen, a bracing and vivacious comedy written by the noted Edmonton-born playwright and screenwriter Elyne Quan, playing at the Varscona Theatre from May 26 to June 11.

With one production down and another on deck, it really does feel like we’re back in business, and what better way to make the most of that than by wholeheartedly plunging ourselves into a captivating and confounding world of perplexity and intrigue.

Originally commissioned by Calgary's High Performance Rodeo and the Edmonton Comedy Festival, Caribbean Muskrat was first performed in 2003, and over the next two years popped in to various near and far-flung locations: Winnipeg! Innisfail! and of course the old Varscona Theatre.

Starting in February, a production of carefully choreographed comedic mayhem brings new meaning to the phrase 'the show must go on.'

Sprinkled with comedic gold and razor-sharp social commentary, this Edmonton-set production is not to be missed.

On March 13, 2020, days before The Garneau Block was set to open, we turned off the lights on our stages due to COVID-19. The Garneau Block set stood still on the Maclab stage for over 18 months waiting for its debut. With great joy and excitement, we welcome the World Premiere of The Garneau Block back to the Citadel, starting September 18, 2021 on the Maclab Theatre stage.

The Citadel Theatre has announced its 2021/22 Season and welcomes patrons back to the theatre. Artistic Director, Daryl Cloran, has thoughtfully crafted this bustling season with many previously scheduled shows, as well as, some exciting new additions to the line up. 

On the evening of March 13th, 2020, artists from Mayfield Dinner Theatre's Noises Off, Edmonton Opera's Candide, and the Citadel's Peter Pan Goes Wrong came together in the Maclab Theatre a?" each a few seats apart a?" for The Garneau Block's dress rehearsal.

An aspiring young journalist hides a big secret. Her parents look for a fresh start. Her best friend Jonas is stuck in the rut of late-night improv shows. Down the street, Shirley Wong grapples with allegations about her husband, the mysterious Rajinder remains an enigma to the neighbourhood, and the Perlitz house rests haunted by the events of its former inhabitants. When flyers appear around the Garneau Block inviting the community to come together and save the neighbourhood, out folds a satirical and moving story of everyday Edmontonians trying to do what Edmontonians do best: rebuild.

As part of Citadel's commitment to building, developing, and showcasing new work for large stages, the Collider Festival promises an exhilarating week of experimentation March 26-29, 2020.
