Veteran Theatre Journalist Harry Haun Has Died At 85

Veteran journalist Harry Haun, who covered theater for more than 50 years, passed away on February 2. He had been admitted to the ICU last week with congestive heart failure. He was 85 and is survived by his husband, Charles Nelson.

Critics used to come to opening nights and rush back and write their reviews to try to get them in the early editions of next day’s newspaper. Eventually, preview periods became longer, but we still held onto the opening night critic tradition for a while.

Adrian is a publicist who, with his business partner, Chris Boneau, runs a press office which has been responsible for over 400 award-winning productions. Joan has photographed hundreds of plays and musicals, on Broadway, Off-Broadway and around the world. And they share the distinction of being the first couple to be awarded individual Tony Honors for their contributions. Theatrical press rep extraordinaire Sam Rudy recently announced his retirement from the Broadway scene.
Rudy began his Broadway career as a press assistant for the 1979 play Strider. Since then, his Sam Rudy Media Relations has represented thirteen Broadway shows and many more off-Broadway productions, including Avenue Q and Hamilton.
