BIO
Sandy Duncan began performing at age 12 in a local production of The King and I. In 1965 she moved to New York and lived at the Rehearsal Club for aspiring actresses. She appeared briefly on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow in 1968. In 1970 she starred in the Broadway revival of The Boy Friend and made her feature-film debut opposite Dean Jones in the Walt Disney Productions film The Million Dollar Duck (1971). She also appeared in The Star-Spangled Girl, based on the play by Neil Simon. In 1971 she starred in the CBS sitcom Funny Face, which returned in 1972 as The Sandy Duncan Show. In 1976 she starred in a television musical adaptation of Pinocchio and appeared in the miniseries Roots. She also guest-starred on The Muppet Show.
Duncan returned to Broadway in the late 1970s and starred in the title role of Peter Pan in 1979. She also appeared in replacement roles in the musicals My One and Only and Chicago. During this period she appeared on television programs including The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972), The Six Million Dollar Man (1976), and The Bionic Woman (1976). She starred in the Disney film The Cat from Outer Space (1978) and voiced Vixey in the animated film The Fox and the Hound (1981).
In the 1980s and early 1990s Duncan continued working in television and voice acting. She appeared in the stage revue 5-6-7-8...Dance! at Radio City Music Hall in 1984. She voiced characters in the television special My Little Pony: Rescue at Midnight Castle (1984) and the series My Little Pony 'n Friends (1986–1987). From 1987 to 1991 she starred as Sandy Hogan in the sitcom The Hogan Family. She also appeared in the children’s video series Barney and the Backyard Gang beginning in 1988 and voiced Peepers in Rock-a-Doodle (1991). In 1994 she voiced Queen Uberta in the animated film The Swan Princess.
From 1999 to 2001 Duncan co-hosted the Championship Ballroom Dancing on PBS. She continued appearing in stage productions in the 2000s, including the Off-Broadway reading series Wit & Wisdom (2003), the New York City Center Encores! production of No, No, Nanette (2008), Driving Miss Daisy at Casa Mañana Theatre (2009), and The Glass Menagerie at Mountain Playhouse (2009). In 2016 she appeared on Broadway in the musical Finding Neverland as Madame du Maurier.
