The Palace Theatre Closes the Curtain on RENT, 4/11

By: Apr. 11, 2010

The Palace Theatre will close its current showing of the Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series production of RENT on April 11th.

Jonathan Larson's hit musical RENT transformed the definition of musical theater when it opened on Broadway in 1996. An inspiring story about friends and a community of young artists living together as they struggle through life in the East Village of New York City, RENT tackles addiction, poverty, AIDS - and most of all, love.

The Palace Theatre is the first theater company in Southern New Hampshire to be granted the rights to present the full stage version of RENT. For the Palace's production, Artistic Director Carl Rajotte has assembled an amazing cast of 18 actors, many of which call New York City home. Carl Rajotte is excited to bring RENT to the Manchester area and is anticipating that the production will draw a fresh, younger audience to the Palace. "RENT is realistic and socially relevant. The dramatic material affects the audience in a powerful way and it remains as potent today as it did when it was first introduced. It is really an examination of life," says Rajotte.

RENT has changed Broadway forever and transformed how a generation feels about musical theater. If you haven't seen RENT yet, come to this show! Whether it is your first time or your 100th time, you won't want to miss this production of RENT. It will have you thinking - "No day but today."
