Kyle Loven and Paurl Walsh Star in Guthrie Theater's MOON SHOW 143, Beg. Tonight

The Guthrie Theater presents the Dowling Studio's 2013-14 season opener Moon Show 143 by Minnesota-bred, Seattle-based theater and visual artist Kyle Loven. Loven's body of work combines puppetry, projections and other art forms with live actors. Nick Hubbard will direct the world premiere of this production inspired by moon myths and beliefs from around the world.

Guthrie Theater presents 12 mainstage shows in its 2013-2014 season. The theater's 51st season includes first-time Guthrie Productions of playwrights Beth Henley and Nina Raine, classics on the Wurtele Thrust Stage directed by Dowling and Marion McClinton, WorldStage Series presentations of returning companies Kneehigh Theatre and Out of Joint, as well as a summertime slate of a beloved musical and a Christopher Durang comedy that is currently a Broadway hit.

Michael Booth & David Darrow to Lead Guthrie's SKIING ON BROKEN GLASS; Full Cast & Creative Team Announced

The Guthrie Theater today announced the cast and creative team for David Goldstein's moving drama Skiing on Broken Glass. The play premiered in the 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival to sold-out crowds and was selected for the Fringe Encore series. Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling helms a new, expanded version of the play featuring additional characters and accompanying storylines. Skiing on Broken Glass begins performances in the Dowling Studio on October 29.

The Wicked touring company and Hennepin Theatre Trust are pleased to announce that a day-of-performance lottery for alimited number of orchestra seats will be held prior to each performance of Wicked during the Minneapolis run, September 18-October 27. Two and one-half hours before each show, people who present themselves at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office (910 Hennepin Avenue) will have their names placed in a lottery container. Thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This offer is available only in-person at the Orpheum Box Office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Please join us on Sunday, September 15, 2013 for a free special commemoration of the very day 50 years ago when four little girls, Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley were killed when their church was bombed by white supremacists in Birmingham, Alabama. The play lets the four girls tell us about the hopes and dreams they carried for their lives before they were tragically cut down. It is as uplifting as it is moving.
OPEN STREETS AT PENN FEST Set for Richfield, 9/15

On Sunday, September 15th between 12 noon and 5 pm, the cars, trucks and vans on Penn Avenue in Richfield, Minnesota will disappear. This normally busy stretch of roadway from 62nd to 76th on Penn Avenue will be closed to vehicles and instead opened to walking, biking, skateboarding, dancing, sports, games, crafts, arts and many more activities.

Ashley Rose Montondo, a graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA program in Minneapolis, was cast into the lead role of Elizabeth Bennett in the Guthrie's summer smash, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, starring opposite Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser as Mr. Darcy when the original actor unexpectedly pulled out of the show. It is her first major starring role on the Guthrie stage, though she did have minor roles in a number of prior productions through her college program. Ashley took a few minutes to talk about her experience this summer.
