SteppingStone Theatre to Present THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, 12/6-23

By:

"Shazaaaam!" When the Angel of the Lord speaks, people listen! Especially when that angel is Gladys Herdman, the youngest, meanest and bitey-est of the whole Herdman crew. The first play that SteppingStone Theatre produced is back again for the 22nd time! Revel in yuletide chaos and hilarity as baby angels, church ladies, firefighters, the Bradleys, and even the Herdmans, discover the true meaning of Christmas. This popular classic returns to SteppingStone¹s stage for the 22nd time, re-imagined, but as funny and touching as ever. (Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.)

This year¹s production will be especially poignant, since the play¹s author, Barbara Robinson, recently passed away at age 85.

This year¹s production is directed by Kristi Lynn Johnson. Kristi is a shining example of SteppingStone¹s multifaceted approach to theatre in the Twin Cities. In addition to being a first-time director for The Best
Christmas Pageant Ever, Kristi is also the company¹s Education Director. Serving in that role since 2004 (with a hiatus from 2008-2010), she has put a unique stamp on SteppingStone Theatre¹s work with students in urban classrooms. This year alone, she is leading semester-long projects in a number of challenged schools, with funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board Arts Learning Program.

Kristi says, "Everything we do at SteppingStone is about educating the whole child. Whether it is an outreach program or classes at our theatre or being cast in a show, our primary concern is to build self-esteem and confidence in all the young people that come to our theatre."
