Miami City Ballet to Present 50th Anniversary Celebration of JEWELS

A glittering 50th Anniversary celebration of George Balanchine's Jewels will open Miami City Ballet's 2017-18 season on October 20, 2017, and will mark the first time the company has performed Balanchine's full-evening masterpiece in a decade. Jewels will be performed to live music by MCB's Opus One Orchestra, conducted by Gary Sheldon.

Sandy Gelfound's life story is a fascinating tale filled with love, laughter… and cheerleading.  Beginning August 3rd, the multi-talented comedienne, raconteur, and former NFL Raider cheerleader will spend four weeks at the PGA Arts Center performing her one person show, The Kosher Cheerleader.  The production will run through August 27th.

For the past five decades, the award-winning Delray Beach-based architectural firm has played an instrumental role in designing some of South Florida's key cultural venues, and recently their designs for the expansion of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre received approval. CSA was part of the initial transformation of the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in 2005. Additionally, the firm has designed the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton and Old School Square's Crest Theatre, Arts Garage and the new Arts Warehouse, all located in Delray Beach.

There's a new tonsorial parlor setting up shop at Palm Beach Dramaworks this summer, and the proprietor possesses skills that can best be described as cutthroat. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, the brilliant Tony Award-winning musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and Hugh Wheeler (book), opens at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on July 14, following a specially priced preview on July 13. This deliciously macabre and witty tale of a throat-slitting barber and his enterprising accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, who grinds his victims into meat pies, runs through August 6. Clive Cholerton directs and Emmanuel Schvartzman, making his PBD debut, is the musical director.
