South Florida's acclaimed Slow Burn Theatre Company, known for its award-winning musical productions, stages Fancy Nancy The Musical for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

In this adaptation, based on the series by Jane O'Connor that is recommended for grades preK-2, Nancy and her pals are thrilled to be dancing in their very first show, "Deep Sea Dances," until another girl gets the part of the Mermaid. Nancy Learns that anyone and anything can be fancy with a dash of imagination.

There are several ways to enjoy the show. Performances are offered on Thursday, October 5 at 10 a.m. and Friday, October 6 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. as a JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinee. JM Family Enterprises Smart Stage Matinees offer literature-based shows that promote reading skills and S.T.E.A.M. (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) to make challenging concepts accessible to younger learners. Tickets to these performances are $7.20 with $3 lap seats for infants 12 months and under.

Fancy Nancy The Musical launches the Broward Center 2017-18 Family Fun Series presented by Hoffman's Chocolates on Saturday, October 7 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Each show in the 2017-18 Family Fun Series presented by Hoffman's Chocolates includes free pre-show face painting and arts activities along with a complimentary post-show sweet treat from Hoffman's Chocolates. Tickets to the Saturday performances are $16 and $18 on the day of the show with $3 lap seats for infants 12 months and under.

Groups of 10 or more attending the weekday performances may also purchase a Smart Stage Plus 40-minute workshop on Thursday, October 5 at 11:20 and Friday, October 6 as 10:30 a.m. During this workshop, students explore the elements of musical theater through fun and engaging activities. Using their imaginations, they experience how a story transitions from page to page as they create their own scene related to Fancy Nancy The Musical and bring it to life through story and song. Tickets are $5 per student for groups of 10 or more.
