Caesars Entertainment Corporation Celebrates Service Men
This November Caesars Entertainment Corporation, its employees and the Caesars Foundation are ramping up their support for active, returning and veteran military service men and women.
Marking its first anniversary at McCarran International Airport, the USO Las Vegas Center (USOLV), along with its founding partner, the Caesars Foundation, will take part in a phone-a-thon hosted by KSNV-TV 3 on Nov. 10. Caesars HERO employee volunteers have committed to answering phone lines and taking donations that will help the Center continue to provide meals, computer and phone access and a comfortable area to relax in before they depart to their next duty station. Since opening its doors last year, the USO Center has been a home away from home for more than 25,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and their families.
"The Caesars Foundation has been a great founding partner which shares the same mission as USO Las Vegas, and that's to support our troops any way we can," said Doug Bradford, Center Director of the USO Las Vegas Center. "We average about 80 visitors a day and we wouldn't be able to operate without the financial support and community involvement of partners like the Caesars Foundation. We are very grateful. "
The USO Las Vegas Center and Caesars will also host a meet and greet for elite Operation Rebound athletes who have qualified for and traveled to Las Vegas for the ITU World Triathlon Championships on Nov. 3. Operation Rebound athletes are American military personnel, veterans and first responders with permanent physical disabilities. Earlier this year, the Caesars Foundation presented Operation Rebound with a $10,000 grant to offset the athletes' travel expenses, enabling them to compete on the world stage in elite sporting events like the ITU Championships.
"This year's four Operation Rebound athletes are excited to represent America in international competition," said Nico Marcolongo, Program Manager for Operation Rebound. "It is great to see Caesars Entertainment and the Caesars Foundation recognize that many of our returning service men and women need support and offer a helping hand."
On Nov.5, Caesars Entertainment will partner with Rebuilding Together and several volunteer groups to help two military veterans renovate their homes that have fallen into disrepair. Annually, the company's commits hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to help Rebuilding Together repair homes across the Valley.
Senior Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs for Caesars Entertainment, Jan Jones, emphasized the company is committed to supporting soldiers whether they are actively serving, coming home and re-enter the workforce or simply retired through non-profit groups and company volunteerism efforts. Nationally, Caesars currently employs many active and retired military persons.
