The Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival today announced the third annual Biennial Quilt Festival taking place Wednesday, June 12 - Saturday, June 15 at the Overland Park Convention Center. The festival is open to the public with tickets starting at $17 per day at the door.

Starlight Theatre's opening offering for the 2019 summer season 'Rock Of Ages' was the single most disagreeable theatrical experience in more than fifty years spent attending live theater.  The performance of this rude, crude tribute to 1980s rock bands was probably OK, but it was impossible to hear.  Seated directly behind us was a group of ten who competed with the performers with full voice sing-a-longs, continuous hoots-hollars, yelled commentary, hand clapping, and finger snapping.

Creative Team For Kansas City Ballet's THE WIZARD OF OZ Nominated For Major Award

Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced that the creative team for The Wizard of Oz including Septime Webre (choreography), Matthew Pierce (composer), Michael Raiford (set design) and Liz Vandal (costume design) have been nominated for the Prix Benois de la danse, considered to be the most prestigious ballet award in the world. Awards will be given in Moscow, Russia on May 21st during which Kansas City Ballet Company dancers Lilliana Hagerman (Dorothy), Lamin Pereira dos Santos (Tin Man), and Jeremy Hanson (Toto puppeteer) will perform a short excerpt from the production at the historic Bolshoi Theatre.

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and its Premier Partner Saint Luke's Health System presented "Music from the Heart," a special pipe organ concert attended by 1,000 people on Sunday, May 12 at 4 p.m. in Helzberg Hall. Music selections highlighting the many shades of love were performed on the Kauffman Center's spectacular pipe organ by Jan Kraybill, international concert artist and the Kauffman Center's organ conservator.
