Jewish Family Services is saluting one of its own, Kelly Loeb, Older Adult Care Manager, who was chosen as Ms. Juneteenth 2021 by a committee of organizers of the annual celebration in Kansas City. Loeb was honored during JuneteenthKC Parade June 12 and will be formally introduced to the city at the JuneteenthKC Awards Ceremony during the Heritage Festival Saturday, June 19.

I can’t think of a better way to welcome live theater back to Kansas City than to BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE a production of Musical Theater Heritage and playing in the 4th-floor theater in Crown Center. This is MTH’s first indoor production in sixteen months due to the pandemic, and as the announcer says at the beginning of the show it will “transport you to a better time”.

The production is conceived and directed by MTH Executive Artistic Director Tim Scott, with musical direction by Michalis Koutsoupides. The cast includes Erikka Dunn, Jazlyn Epps, T. Eric Morris, Robert Vardiman, Willis White, and LeShea Wright. The dance ensemble features Sydnee Bell, Courtney Germany, and Katie McCluskey. The four-person band is Koutsoupides on Keyboards, Julian Goff on drums, Dustin McKinney on guitar, and Joey Panella on bass.
