Northland Symphony Orchestra Performs Third Concert Of 44th Season 3/7

Northland Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City's preeminent orchestra, will perform the third concert of its 44th season on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 3pm at Oak Park High School, 825 NE 79th Terrance, Kansas City, MO 64118. Admission to the performance is free.

The program will include Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Sibelius's Symphony No. 5, and the Concerto for Trumpet by Haydn performed by Matthew Vangjel. Vangjel is currently a Trumpet Performance doctoral candidate at the University of Missouri Kansas City and has performed widely in the Kansas City area with such ensembles as the Kansas City Philharmonia Orchestra, the Kansas City Ballet Orchestra and the Fountain City Brass Band. Vangjel is currently an interim faculty member at Northwest Missouri State University for the spring semester of 2010.

The Northland Symphony Orchestra is comprised of student, professional and community musicians and has been performing in the Kansas City area for over 40 years. The NSO provides accessible concerts free of charge to the community and an educational orchestral experience to student musicians in the Kansas City metro area.

Following the March 7 concert, the Northland Symphony Orchestra will present two more performances this season on April 18 and June 6. These performances will be held at Park Hill High School in Parkville, MO.
