Back by Popular Demand! Raise a toast to the season of spirits and sweets with this perfect cocktail of mid-century holiday classics, delightful original tunes, and the inimitable comedy of Ana Gasteyer as she performs selections from her holiday album, Sugar and Booze. Arguably best known for her work on Saturday Night Live and other television shows like The Goldbergs and American Auto, Gasteyer is also an accomplished singer and songwriter and has performed on Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the Tony-nominated shows The Royal Family and Threepenny Opera. She returns to Broadway this fall, starring opposite Sutton Foster in Once Upon a Mattress.
Other notable stage performances include David Lindsay-Abaire’s Kimberly Akimbo at MTC, in which she originated the role of Debra, and an outstanding turn as Miss Hannigan in Annie at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Sugar and Booze, her second studio album, was released to rave reviews in November 2019 and reached number 4 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her first studio album, I’m Hip, was released in 2014, also to critical acclaim. On Sugar and Booze, says the Los Angeles Times, Gasteyer “puts her considerable vocal chops to work here to marvelous effect in this ebullient big-band jazz effort.”
