A holiday mash-up for the entire family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a contemporary re-imagining of Tchaikovsky's timeless music performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist. Through the spell cast by the mysterious Drosselmeyer, Maria-Clara and her Nutcracker prince travel back in time to the moment when her parents first meet in a 1980s' Brooklyn nightclub. MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop's founding fathers, will open the show with a short set before rapping the introduction.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box. Performances run November 9th thru November 18th at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center, 5425 Center St, Hilliard, OH, 43026. In this fun-filled musical, Annie foils evil schemes, befriends the President and finds and new family for herself and her lovable mutt, Sandy. Annie boasts one of Broadway's most memorable scores with songs including "Hard Knock Life," "Easy Street" and "Tomorrow." Bet your bottom dollar you won't want to miss this family-friendly musical. Performances Thur Nov 8th - Sat Nov 10th @ 7:30 and Sun Nov 11th at 3:00 pm. Free childcare is available during the Friday evening and Sunday matinee performances. Verified Fan is a new fan-facing technology from Ticketmaster that allows pre-registered fans to unlock access to tickets without competing against scalpers and bots.

An annual Columbus tradition since 1983, the CSO's Holiday Pops is the creation of chorus master and conductor Ronald Jenkins who has led all 108 performances to date. In 2018, Jenkins, the musicians of the Columbus Symphony, and the 130 members of the Columbus Symphony Chorus, will be joined by more than 100 voices from the Columbus Children's Choir, dancers from the BalletMet Academy, narrator Steven Crawford, and of course, Santa Claus for this heartwarming holiday spectacular.

Michael James Scott must have known he had some enormous golden slippers to fill when he took over the role of the Genie in the national touring version of DISNEY'S ALADDIN, which will be in Columbus from Oct. 24 to Nov. 4. Not only will Scott be judged against the performance of the late Robin Williams, who masterfully played Genie in the movies, ALADDIN (1992) and ALADDIN AND THE KING OF THIEVES (1996), but he also had to emerge from the big blue shadows of James Monroe Iglehart who won a Tony Award for best performance by a featured actor in the Broadway musical in 2014.

Palace Theatre To Reopen November 2 After Complete Auditorium Renovation

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 92-year-old Palace Theatre has received a full facelift of its 2,691-seat auditorium. The first major renovation for the Palace since 1984, the six-month, main-hall makeover included the repair of damaged plaster, new paint in a new color scheme, all-new seats on the main floor, full refurbishment of balcony seats, and installation of a new LED house lighting system in the dome and main chandelier. The first public performance in the fully renovated auditorium will be Grammy-nominated comedian Jim Gaffigan on Friday, November 2.

Westgate Theatre Co. and Carriage Place Players is proud to present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! Joseph is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is based on the 'coat of many colors' story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis. Westgate Theatre Co. & Carriage Place Players are partnering with Empty Bowls, a local project to fight hunger. Friday - During intermission, there will be a silent auction for bowls donated by local artists. Saturday - 5 p.m. bowls and soup event - for a $10 minimum donation, select a bowl and enjoy homemade soup and bread then keep the handmade bowl. All proceeds from the Empty Bowls events benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Performances are October 19th thru 21st at Westgate Community Recreation Center, 455 S Westgate Ave., Columbus, Ohio.
