PlayhouseSquare invites the public to experience its history, people and places in a new film debuting on its freshly redesigned web site. Entitled "More Than Just a Show," the three-part mini-film explores PlayhouseSquare's dramatic rebirth from near demise, its community programs, and economic impact through efforts to create a vibrant neighborhood. Created out of the organization's desire to broaden the public's understanding of its offerings in addition to entertainment, the films are now available online at www.playhousesquare.org/ourstory for viewing, commenting and sharing.
Filmed over a five month period, cameras traveled to behind-the-scenes locations in the theaters and the buildings of PlayhouseSquare, capturing the bustle of this lively destination. It contains dozens of interviews with performers, students, audience members, stagehands, volunteers and tenants each sharing their own stories and experiences at PlayhouseSquare. The high-definition films were produced by Mayfield Heights-based Think Media Studios (www.thinkmediastudios.com). "The PlayhouseSquare story is a unique source of pride for our community," stated Art Falco, President & CEO of PlayhouseSquare. "These films give the public a chance to look back on our dramatic past, while learning how our not-for-profit mission impacts our region today and into the future. We hope all who view them will have a greater understanding of PlayhouseSquare and a desire to participate in our offerings and support our efforts."The three mini-films are divided thematically. The main "Our Story" film is an 8 minute overview of the history, people and places of PlayhouseSquare. "Our Impact" is a 6-minute piece about the organization's mission, its impact and need to be sustained through philanthropic support. The 6-minute "Our Neighborhood" piece delves into the efforts of its Real Estate Services division to attract businesses and tenants to the neighborhood in order to create a vibrant place to live, work, and play.Videos
