Sage Communications is honored to announce that COO and co-founder David Gorodetski will be awarded the DC Jazz Festival's (DCJF) John Conyers, Jr. Jazz Advocacy Award at its annual Trustee Gala on Monday, November 9 at The Hamilton Live, 600 14th Street NW, at 7:00 PM in downtown Washington, DC. Proceeds benefit the DCJF's Roberta Flack Education program, serving 5,000 students annually.

The John Conyers, Jr. Jazz Advocacy Award honors individuals and organizations for their devotion and dedication to jazz, and their efforts to ensure its honored place in America's history. The award is named in honor of Representative John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), a champion of jazz who introduced HR-57, a Congressional Resolution unanimously passed in 1987 that declared jazz a "rare and valuable American treasure to which we should devote our attention, support and resources to make certain it is preserved, understood and promulgated."

"I am thrilled to receive this award not only because of its prestige, but also because this is a cause that I am passionate about and have been for years now," said David Gorodetski, COO and co-founder of Sage. "I have worked with the DC Jazz Festival for all of 11 years in hopes of preserving and promulgating this original American genre. Through our combined efforts, dedication and hard work, we have made a dramatic impact on music education programs for DC Public Schools, elevating the perception and recognition of Jazz."

Sage Communications provides integrated marketing services to a large group of non-profit organizations including the DC Jazz Festival, The National Cherry Blossom Festival, S&R Foundation, Access Youth, The Children's Inn at NIH, and Leadership Greater Washington. By empowering these organizations through strategic guidance, greater brand awareness, cohesive messaging, impactful marketing programs and well-crafted public relations efforts, Sage positions non-profits to execute their missions and help the broader community.

"The greater Washington, DC metropolitan area is home to a variety of exceptional non-profit organizations with the ability to improve our community and world. As a part of this community, we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need," said Gorodetski.

Past John Conyers, Jr. Jazz Advocacy Award recipients include: The Honorable John Conyers, Jr; Government of the District of Columbia; Dana Gioia, former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts; The Washington Post; Omrao Brown, owner of Bohemian Caverns; ABC7/WJLA-TV; The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation; Amy Austin, former publisher of The Washington City Paper; and DC Jazz Festival Founder Charles Fishman.
