Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to kick off its 2017-2018 season with a Western New York-premiere of John, a comedy by Annie Baker.  In 2016, John received nominations for five Lucille Lortel awards and six Drama Desk Awards.  RLTP's production will star Darleen Pickering Hummert, Priscilla Young Anker, Sara Kow Falcone and Adam Yellen under the direction of David Oliver.  Production team includes Dyan Burlingame (set design), John Rickus (light design), Maura Simmonds Price (costume/props) and Katie Menke (sound design). STRONG ACTING IN DRACULA DESPITE TEDIOUS SCRIPT The story of Bram Stoker's DRACULA has been told long enough since the novel's release in 1897 that most everyone is familiar with the famous Prince of Darkness. Numerous films have been made, as early as the silent version NOSFERATU, and a stage version with Frank Langella was lauded nearly 30 years ago on Broadway. The Shaw Festival is presenting a stage version by Poet Laureate of Glasgow, Liz Lochhead. First given in 1985 in Scotland, this overly long stage adaptation is too bogged down in literary detail, and judicious trimming of the Victorian epic seemed necessary to make it palatable for modern day audiences. As summer decides on whether to stick around or not, American Repertory Theater of WNY will come out of the company's season hiatus with one of the first events of the 2017-18 season. August will feature a two-evening stage reading of Mark Humphrey's AN INQUIRY INTO THE FATE OF THE U.S.S. PEQUOD at the company's 330 Amherst location.
