Mark Medoff's Tony-winning play CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD centers around a state school for the deaf in the 1970's and follows several interwoven faculty/student storylines. While the excitement builds once we learn where Medoff has placed his characters at the top, it's a quick deflation to see he's decided not to dive deeper into any of the interesting dynamics. Instead, his play is more about a relationship with poor communication skills than a focus on the deaf community's struggle to assimilate into the hearing community.

Montreal-based Compagnie Marie Chouinard makes its Jacob's Pillow debut in the Ted Shawn Theatre, July 19-23. Described by The New York Times as a "hurricane of unbridled imaginativeness," company director Marie Chouinard has been pioneering avant garde choreography that pushes the boundaries of on-stage performance since the late 1970s. The program includes 24 Preludes by Chopin, a series of vignettes laced together by Chopin's iconic piano refrains and set to live piano accompaniment, and HENRI MICHAUX: MOUVEMENTS, inspired by the ink drawings and poems of the French/Belgian poet and visual artist.

Within the span of just the first two weeks of July, four cutting edge comedies will open at producer Mark Cortale's renowned Art House in Provincetown, hot on the heels of the just-opened new hit Varla Jean Merman show Bad Heroine.  First, Jinkx Monsoon and Peaches Christ bring their smash hit Return to Grey Gardens back to Ptown after a two-year hiatus for a summer long run from July 5 - September 7. Next, Jinkx Monsoon debuts her own new show The Ginger Snapped with cohort Major Scales at the piano, from July 8 through September 10. Re-Styled SALOME Gets Encore at The Provincetown Theater

The Provincetown Theater has announced a radically re-styled and re-staged version of Oscar Wilde's 'Salome' opening July 12 running through August 19. Wilde's once-banned biblical play will feature new costuming, scenic design, choreography and casting. Performances are at 7:30 Wednesdays through Sundays July 12 through August 19.
