A.R.T. Receives $900,000 From Barr Foundation's New ArtsAmplified Initiative

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, is pleased to announce that it has received a 3-year grant of $900,000 from the Barr Foundation. The Foundation's award from its new ArtsAmplified initiative will support A.R.T.'s commissioning and development of new work, activities central to its role as a vital public institution operating from its two theaters in Harvard Square and throughout Greater Boston. The deepening of staff capacity, expansion of local partnerships, and preparation of world premiere productions will also be supported by the grant.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab (BPL) will celebrate the kickoff of the summer season with a benefit Gala on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 6:30 pm at the historic Wyantenuck Country Club, located at 46 West Sheffield Road in Great Barrington. The evening, a celebration of eleven years of original plays, expanded programming and affordable professional theater, includes light dinner fare, a silent auction, and a short surprise performance. Underwriter tickets are $250 per person and Sponsor tickets are $500 per person, both of which will help support the expanded 2018 season and give the patrons special recognition in the season playbill and at the readings.
Electric Youth Anti-Bullying Workshop For Children

Electric Youth (EY), the international touring ensemble of talented young singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), will host and facilitate a fun anti-bullying workshop for children this Thursday evening, May 3 at 6 p.m. The ArtWeek 2018 event will take place at FSPA, located at 38 Main Street in downtown Franklin. Partnering with Bully: The Adjective, Electric Youth will use music and drama activities to create dialogue around positivity, inclusion and the importance of valuing relationships. The interactive workshop is free and geared to children ages 8-12. The event will also introduce an ongoing EY Friendship Challenge. Come meet the members of Electric Youth as they share their personal stories about friendship. Celebrate your own stories of friendship in return and work together with EY to bring these stories to life on the stage. Participants are asked to register for the workshop and arrive promptly at 6 p.m. for the hour-long event. Participants will receive a special certificate for taking the Electric Youth Friendship Challenge. This ArtWeek event is supported by Music Drives Us.
FSPA Announces Annual Spring Concert - Complimentary Tickets Available For Prospective Students

Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) is pleased to provide prospective students with complimentary tickets to FSPA Spring Concert performances as part of the school's All Access Pass program. Families are invited to learn more about FSPA programs in music, dance and drama. The Spring Concert shows provide a dynamic way to experience what the school has to offer across many dance disciplines, voice, acting, instrumental music, and musical theater programming. Spring Concert performances will be presented on Saturday, May 19 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 20 at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. at the Franklin High School Auditorium, located at 218 Oak Street. Featuring FSPA students of many ages and levels, Spring Concert is presented in an audience-friendly, 90-minute format.

Written in 1982 as a diatribe against Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's anti-union administration in England, the themes of Churchill's outspoken feminist play remain relevant and all too familiar more than three decades later. In addition to choosing actors outside the box of white, British women, Liesl also fields a creative team of designers which is almost exclusively female.

Hub Theatre Company of Boston will kick off its highly anticipated sixth season with the Pulitzer Prize nominated play TRUE WEST by the late Sam Shepard, directed by Daniel Bourque, starring Bob Mussett, Victor Shopov, Robert Orzalli and Maureen Adduci. The show runs Friday, April 13 through Saturday, April 28, 2018 at First Church Boston, 66 Marlborough Street in Boston's Back Bay.  Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 5 pm. All performances are "Pay-What-You-Can."  Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected at each performance for local charities.
