Emily Skeggs Comes to The Cape Rep Theatre For An Evening to Remember

Cape Rep Theatre presents Summer Starlight, An Evening to Remember, Sunday, August 5, with guest of honor, Tony Award nominated theater, film and television actor, Emily Skeggs. Tickets for this gala celebration benefiting Cape Rep Theatre include an outdoor party with hors d'oeuvres and live jazz, a brief live auction, a performance and audience discussion with Ms. Skeggs in the Indoor Theater emceed by best-selling author Anne D. LeClaire, and a champagne and dessert finale with the guest of honor under the stars. Sunday, August 5, 6 PM. Summer Starlight Honorary Chair is David Willard, former Director of Community Relations for Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank and a beloved member of the Cape's cultural community. The event will be chaired by Cape Rep's Summer Starlight Committee including Mary Ellen Ackerman, Rob Kluin, Patricia Arés, Jeff Cusack and Donna Morris with auction chairs Elia and Michael Marnik, and online auction chair Tina Games.

All proceeds benefit Cape Rep Theatre. Summer Starlight is presented with the generous support of Cranberry Liquors, 1620 Brewhouse, Chatham Candy Manor, Gallery Antonia, Prestige Dry Cleaning and Crocker Nurseries.

On the feature film side, Emily Skeggs will next be seen in an incredible role opposite Chloe Grace Moretz in Desiree Akhaven's THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST, which just won Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2018. She also comes out this summer as one of the leads in Pete Berg's feature film MILE 22, opposite Mark Walhberg.

In TV, Emily will continue to recur on the recently picked up TNT series SNOWPIERCER, based on the acclaimed film by Bong Joon-ho.

Among her many credits, Emily starred as one of the leads in Dustin Lance Black's eight-part miniseries WHEN WE RISE for Gus Van Sant, which aired on ABC. She plays the young version of Mary-Louise Parker's "Roma" character. Emily was nominated for both Tony and Grammy Awards for her role in Sam Gold's hit musical FUN HOME on Broadway, all the while shooting a recurring role on Brannan Braga's series SALEM.

Anne D. LeClaire is the best-selling author of ten novels including THE HALO EFFECT and THE LAVENDER HOUR and her work has been published in 24 countries. She is also the author of an award-winning memoir, LISTENING BELOW THE NOISE and, most recently, her first children's book, KAYLEE FINDS A FRIEND. Her newest novel, THE ORCHID SISTER, will be forthcoming in May 2019.

Cape Rep's 2018 Indoor Theater season opened with the George Furth/Stephen Sondheim musical, Merrily We Roll Along, May 9 - June 3, followed by the world premiere of The Tuna Goddess by Jade Schuyler, June 27 - July 21. Next up is the beloved Broadway sensation, Mamma Mia!, based on the music of ABBA, August 1-26, followed by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori's groundbreaking musical Fun Home, September 19 - October 14. The season will conclude with the Cape Cod premiere of Shakespeare in Love, adapted by Lee Hall from the Tom Stoppard/Marc Norman Oscar-winning movie, November 1 - December 2. Also in the Indoor Theater will be Sing Like There's No Tomorrow, a musical revue featuring Cape Rep favorites Trish LaRose and Jared Hagan November 11 - December 9. The Outdoor Theater will include the swashbuckling musical adaptation of the popular children's book, How I Became a Pirate, by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman June 26 - August 30, and Pitter Patter Puppets, Mary Wilson's delightful interactive puppet show July 11 - August 22.
