Franklin School for the Performing Arts Hosts Auditions For NUTCRACKER 9/19
The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will hold open auditions for The Nutcracker on Sunday, September 19th at 38 Main Street in Franklin. Certain to delight the imaginations of audiences young and old, FPAC'S 15th production of this popular holiday classic will be presented with a professional orchestra under the direction of Boston's Peter Cokkinias. FSPA Ballet Mistress Cheryl Madeux-Abbott, formerly of American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet, and the Hartford Ballet will dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy partnered by former Boston Ballet principal dancer, Carlos Molina. The pair danced together as principal dancers for the Hartford Ballet for four years and is excited to be working together yet again.
FPAC's production of The Nutcracker is open to all area dancers and the cast typically represents at least 8 -10 different dance schools. Audition times for children ages 6-9 are 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; ages 10-12, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.; students ages 13 and up (not currently on Pointe) will be held from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.; and students 13 and up who have been studying Pointe for at least one year, are at 2:30 p.m. Beginners are welcome and students must be 6 years old by September 19th to participate. Ballet attire and proper hair are required.
The Nutcracker will be staged on Saturday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium, 224 Oak Street in Franklin.
