FPAC Announces 2011 Family Concert Series

By: Jan. 13, 2011

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) is pleased to announce its Family Concert Series for 2011.  From January through March, FPAC will hold a family concert one Sunday per month to beat the winter doldrums and enjoy music! The concerts are free, open to the public and held in the Franklin School for the Performing Arts' recital hall at 38 Main St.

Uncle Nick Strikes Again will be presented on Sunday, January 30th at 3:00 p.m. Nick Paone, FSPA's popular actor and Drama Instructor, will lead the audience in renditions of famous American folk tunes, including This Land is Your Land, Mr. Frog Went a-Courtin' and You Are My Sunshine. "Uncle Nick" will also introduce the audience to folk songs from different cultures, including Irish, Italian and Caribbean songs. And there will be a few surprises, too! This event is especially geared toward young children.

On Sunday, February 13th   at 3 p.m., bassist Mark Poniatowski will lead Sunday Afternoon Blues, an exploration of blues themes out of New Orleans, Memphis and Chicago. This program enables young audiences to enjoy a family-friendly representation of a classic American art form. Poniatowski will be joined by local blues band The Love Dogs.

The classic Dr. Seuss tales Green Eggs and Ham and Gertrude McFuzz will take a new form when they are staged as one-act operas on March 27th at 3 p.m. Classical vocalists and FSPA Instructors of Voice Shauna Martin and Mariko Matsumura and pianist Scott Nicholas will lead Opera for Kids.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to the promotion of the performing arts, with a focus on and commitment to youth development.

A distinctive suburban non-profit arts organization, FPAC presents quality performances while offering opportunities for professional artists, amateurs, families and students of the arts to work together in a collaborative and creative environment.
