Peter Marks tweeted a case to be made that Lin might be growing his hair out in order to star as Hamilton when Broadway eventually reopens. The actor, Ryan Vasquez, who was with the show prior to the shutdown did officially announce he’s not coming back and I think Lin can bring people into the seats, not that Hamilton needs that help.

Miguel Cervantes was the principal Hamilton on Broadway prior to the shutdown while Ryan was the standby Hamilton so I don't think Ryan leaving the show plays into the idea of Lin returning to the show. From what I've seen on social media, Miguel has every intention of returning, not to say things couldn't be arranged to have Lin reopen it but I feel like that's unlikely.

Kind of off-topic, but I never understood why Lin felt the need to have long hair for the role in the first place. Many of the Hamiltons don’t and I think he wore a wig for his run in PR (which I also didn’t get the necessity of).

Men and women wear lace-front wigs on Broadway. No one alters their hair anymore. Heck, even Bernadette Peters has been using wigs on stage for decades that look exactly like her regular hair. Easier having a hair person have it ready in advance and you don’t need to sit for 2 hours having your hair prepped each performance. Lin can have flowing blonde hair if he chooses without having to do anything to his own hair.

Lolz. Yup. when he was in PR performing as Hamilton. His hair was real the year he played Hamilton on Broadway. He talked about it extensively in interviews and proudly showed off his haircut 10 minutes after his final performance in New York.

This is a good theory!! The part where he couldn't wait to cut it after leaving because he doesn't like long hair sold me. By now in the pandemic, if he really didn't like long hair he could have gotten it cut or trimmed.

I mean, I had hair down to my shoulders, and then I cut it for a role and have wore the Quiff hairstyle for almost a decade, and swore on all things holy that I would never grow my hair back out, because of how much easier and lightweight having short hair was. And now I am actually growing it out again. Lol. Not saying the theory isn't true, just pointing out that a person's opinions can change on their hair. Lol

* it’s quite possible the snark never left. I’ve largely been MIA on the forum during the pandemic so I probably missed it. So maybe it is a measure of my optimism and improved state of my mind that I’m gradually returning & even celebrating snark. I do wish that this snark had been used to better ends elsewhere like on the WSS thread in reaction to the person recently who said that since they’re Catholic, they don’t see movies about Jewish people. ^ Not really. We are only about 8 weeks out from July 4th, and they would have announced it by now so people could plan to come to see Hamilton and drop a grand per ticket. I think September is the target considering only 30% of Americans are fully vaccinated and the want is now waning.

Word in March from person involved in show was that Ham wanted to re-open during July 4th weekend if at all feasible. Unless rehearsals start soon, how would that be possible.

4th of July is roughly 8 weeks away. Yeah I'd imagine they'd need at least 3 weeks of rehearsals.
