Interesting, I haven't heard of any of these actors but here's hoping! I'll definitely probably have to see the show if it comes near me cuz I really really love the Broadway production.

Explain how HAIRSPRAY is transphobic ? Are you talking about the character of Edna? Because I don't see how that would fall into that category when the character is supposed to be a biological woman, not a man in a dress or a man in drag.
They are definitely the same costume designs from the NBC live version, but I think they're new versions, eveline's is certainly not the same size as the one that mary-j-blige
I respectfully disagree Aug 7

I can remembering a couple times seeing HAIRSPRAY on a two show day and seeing both Matinee and Evening shows consecutively and noticing more energy in the evening. But generally I avoid matinees because alot of actors avoid the stage door after and just stay inside to relax or go get food

^I was speaking to the poster who said that Queen would knock the s*** out of 'poor unfortunate souls', something I've never seen her be able to do live. I'm fully aware of the history of the song, and it doesn't have to be as big as it was on Broadway but I'm saying that I don't see the tifa doing anything but the okay performance she usually does when she sings

Says you. I’m ready for her to knock the sh*t of “Poor Unfortunate Souls”."
If she pre records it maybe, Live she can barely belt. Look at live versions of 'I know where I've been' and "When you're good to Mama" and compare to in the studio- major let down

Wasn't it rumored that Loretta Devine was going to join the cast of 'hairspray' as Motormouth Maybelle? I distinctly remember hearing this but can't seem to find any info on it. Also, jackee Harry as Madame morrible in 'wicked', I think she announced she was going to join the show. Anybody else remember this stuff?

Actually, I think Sofia Vergara was good vocally, in this video clip. She certainly was better than I expected. Now, I don't know much about the first two you
Has anyone recognized actors anywhere but a show? Jul 25

Not so much Broadway related but still funny: the actor, Terrence Howard almost hit me with his car by accident. It was in the Hollywood area right after Michael Jackson had passed away. It was my first time in LA and I was scouting out famous houses and had just left Michael's house and was crossing the street when he skip to stop sign and nearly hit me. Lol. He didn't say anything to me, and I just kept walking to get my parents car, quickly. Lolzz
NOTE TO ANYONE WITH BEETLEJUICE SIGNED PLAYBILLS: mine was signed with gold paint pen, which is literally rubbing off when I rub the signatures. so I will have to Matt it in a special frame to protect the signatures. Just wanted to give other people a heads up in case theirs was signed the same way and they wanted to preserve the signatures. I'm still over the moon to have the playbill, just wish they had used a regular sharpie of some color instead of paint pen which a lot of times doesn

Yes, the rest of the show is great, but that finale is just such an explosion of joy and such a catchy song that you can't help walking out of the theater on cloud 9."
I definitely second that!

Wrote to THE CHER SHOW, KING KONG, BEETLEJUICE. Heard back from all three today and received cast signed playbills from all three. All three took 11 days and no donation was required.

I don't get the snarkiness. It's not like this thread was closed for comments or something. I'm sure there are more important things that you could find to worry about
Chowd95 said: " I just listened to the new soundtrack and.. it's disappointing. If they were going to use the original backing track for "Circle of Life" then why not use the original vocals as well? The new singer can't hold a candle to the '94 vocalist (who's name escapes me). "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" is ok, but like everything else here it lacks energy. "Be Prepared" flat out sucks. It's two minutes of spoken dialogue wit

Can you expand on what you are saying.the way I'm reading this is that you are saying that in 2019, the idea of a man playing Ursula is outdated, overdid or something, when it's really the opposite. Disney is not one for gender blind casting. Lol. In 2019, Disney should be more open minded with casting
