Rodrigo Garcia's VERSUS Plays the Kaaitheater, 5/14-5/16 by BWW News Desk
- April 01, 2010 On stage a stack of torn books, a screen spits out random images. What starts out as a discussion about pizzas can suddenly continue with a history lesson, switches from flamenco to post-punk, from reflections on love to comments on the relation between humiliation and the economy. The director Rodrigo García - last year at our Performatik festival - seems to ask: what are we to do, say what we think, withdraw, or take part? And what if our actions were in vain?
THE THRILL OF IT ALL to Play Kaaitheater, 5/7-5/10 by BWW News Desk
- April 01, 2010 After a number of small-scale side projects, Tim Etchells has rejoined his collective for an impressive new project with several new performers. Inspired by several recent collaborations, Forced Entertainment will focus on elements which it had ignored in recent years, such as movement, dance and the electronic manipulation of sound and voice. In The Thrill of It All, which will have its world premiere at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts, actors drift about, dancers seem to have lost their bearings, and metaphors become unfounded. Incoherent tunes and distorted voices pay homage to the small things in life. Not to be missed!
Kaaitheater Presents I'M SORRY IT'S (NOT) A STORY, 23 & 24 April by BWW News Desk
- April 01, 2010 In her previous pieces, Charlotte Vanden Eynde often used objects and video, coming close to the boundary of visual art. In I'm Sorry It's (Not) A Story she gives shape to her associative visual idiom in pure movement and dance, and seeks out the ‘image' and poetry of movement. She experiments with meaning and emotion, somewhere between theatricality and abstraction.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Closes at the Salles Jacques Huisman, 3/28 by BWW News Desk
- March 28, 2010 There are images that we see as children that make a durable impression. When these pictures are of a great beauty and power and when what the show touches something essential to each and all of us, even though they are invisible to the eyes, they will probably accompany us all our lives, the remain somewhere within us and continue to pose their vital questions. It is entirely possible that some of the children taking part in this journey of initiation by this fairy-tale production by Joël Pommerat will be enchanted, between amusement and fear, and in adulthood will remember the fundamental impression of its images.
