Way Off Broadway to Present FOOTLOOSE, 6/15-8/25

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is getting ready to cut loose this summer with the dance musical Footloose. The stage production, based on the Paramount Pictures film, will open at the Frederick theatre on Friday, June 15th and run through August 25th.

Set in the Irish countryside, a lonely woman in her forties has her first and possibly last chance at love until her manipulative mother sets in motion a train of events that leads to a terrifying conclusion.The Beauty Queen of Leenane will perform weekends tonight, May 18 to June 9.

Pumpkin Theatre Family Fun Day Set for Centerstage, 5/19

Pumpkin Theatre is hosting their Family Fun Day this Saturday, May 19, at CENTERSTAGE. From 10 am to 1 pm, Pumpkin will present performances, arts and crafts, face painting, and more. The Iced Gems Baking Cupcake Truck will be on site, and Pumpkin's Creative Drama classes will present special performances. There will be a live announcement of Pumpkin Theatre's 45th Anniversary Season, and a special subscription series offer as part of the season announcement.

Glass Mind Theatre's Brainstorm festival is back, this year with a new twist! Playwrights will be teaming up to tackle 5 brand-new short plays inspired by the Baltimore community. The twist? Each playwright chose a submitted location and were tasked with creating half a play either starting in said location, or ending there. Brainstorm 3: Mind the Gap runs June 1 - June 17, 2012 at Load of Fun Theatre (120 West North Avenue, Baltimore), on Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.

In the coming weeks, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is holding auditions for three very different projects, including two World Premiere productions. The first of which will be presented as part of MET's series, MET-X, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. The other World Premiere is a community collaboration between MET, Frederick Community College and Hood College that is looking to cast a large ensemble of actors to occupy FCC's Kussmaul Theater this August. Last but not least the MET's resident improv & sketch group, The Comedy Pigs, is hoping to pick up some new players as they enter their twentieth season. These three very disparate projects cast a large net that will offer performers of all levels of experience a chance to seize the spotlight.
