The awards acknowledge the efforts of local schools and community groups that support programs relating to Broadway or touring Broadway shows, promoting further development of theatre education.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. (CPM), in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, performs FAME Jr. 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday today, May 5 and May 6, 12,-13, 19- 20 and 4 p.m. March 13 in the J Building Lecture Hall (J-137) at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. The 4 p.m. show will be sign-language interpreted by students from the CCBC Catonsville Interpreter Preparation Program. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for birthday parties or scout troops. Tickets can be ordered in advance through the Box Office, 443-840-ARTS, and are available at the door, space permitting.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre Holds Auditions for MET-X Series and More, Beg. 5/14

In the coming weeks, Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is holding auditions for three very different projects, including two World Premiere productions. The first of which will be presented as part of MET's series, MET-X, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. The other World Premiere is a community collaboration between MET, Frederick Community College and Hood College that is looking to cast a large ensemble of actors to occupy FCC's Kussmaul Theater this August. Last but not least the MET's resident improv & sketch group, The Comedy Pigs, is hoping to pick up some new players as they enter their twentieth season. These three very disparate projects cast a large net that will offer performers of all levels of experience a chance to seize the spotlight.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present an original ensemble created production for the Fredneck in all of us, The All New Grand Ole Hee Haw Hootenanny Hoedown Jamboree. 'The title says it all, the Jamboree is sure to have you busting a gut, tapping your toes, singing along and pulling the straw from your teeth. The show will feature hilarious original sketches and a revolving roster of guest artists and musical acts.' Directed by MET Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Directors Gené Fouché and Julie Herber, the show runs from May 10 through June 3 every Thursday through Sunday at the MET, located in the historic FSK hotel at 31 W Patrick Street.

There's nothing more personal than theater in the round, especially when it's on such an intimate scale as that at Spotlighters Theatre where there's a maximum of three rows of seating on each side. And it seems a fitting way to get to know Dolly Gallagher Levi, star of Hello, Dolly!, since her greatest joy is getting to know you-in the hopes of making a little money off of what she's figured out.
