Every actor needs a strong foundation.

Everyman Theatre's Foundations of Acting Series is designed for students in grades 9-12. Each class features a deep dive into core concepts led by dynamic theatre professionals. With a focus on process and practice, not on final performance, students will share work exclusively for their ensemble of peers and the artists working to support them in order to build a strong foundation.

Foundation: Text Analysis

Each Foundations class features a deep dive into core concepts led by dynamic theatre professionals. In this foundation, dig deep and tackle text from a wide variety of theatrical genres! Learn helpful tools and strategies to dissect a scene and translate it into action for the stage.

Foundation: Audition Technique
Two Sessions: Fri, Jan 27 or Sat, Jan 28
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Lunch at 1:00 PM)

Note: Public schools in Baltimore City and Howard County are closed Fri, Jan 27.

Meet the teaching artists

Brandon McCoy
Teaching Foundation: Text Analysis

Brandon McCoy is a professional actor, director, and playwright living based in Washington, DC. His work has been featured at numerous area theaters including Round House Theatre, Imagination Stage, Theatre J, Rep Stage, Studio Theatre, Studio Theatre 2nd Stage, Arena Stage, Olney Theatre Center, No Rules, The Bay Theatre, Forum Theatre,Theatre Alliance, and The Keegan Theatre where he is a proud company member. Brandon is also a college professor and teaches at Catholic University, American University, George Washington University, Howard and Harford Community College, and Montgomery College. He holds an MFA in Acting from the Catholic University of America and a BFA in Acting/Directing from Marshall University.

Ray and Nan Ficca
Teaching Foundation: Audition Technique

This course will be taught in tandem by Ray and Nan Ficca.

Ray is the President of The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Washington, DC. He has been acting professionally for more than 25 years, appearing in over 150 productions on regional stages nationwide. He is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association.

Nan has worked in the theater business for more than 20 years in all areas of management and technical theater, and continues to work as a producer (SAG/AFTRA) and casting director with occasional forays into stage management and lighting and props design.
