92nd Street Y's 48th season of Lyrics & Lyricists continued this weekend with an essential American story, Irving Berlin: American, celebrating Berlin's extraordinary life and work. On the occasion of the centenary of the writing of "God Bless America" - our nation's "other anthem," - artistic director, co-writer and choreographer, Noah Racey (Lyrics & Lyricists veteran, Thoroughly Modern Millie), and co-writer Cheryl L. Davis (Barnstormer, Maid's Door, Bridges) explore how the five-year-old Russian immigrant who arrived at Ellis Island speaking no English came to create songs that epitomize American music, and how he became the spokesman in song for the country that allowed him to flourish.

There was music and entertainment magic at The Green Room 42 last night as program director Daniel Dunlow presented the world of The 'Genies' JukeBox' featuring the stars of Disney's Aladdin.

Erich Bergen doesn't utilize his singing and dancing talents on the CBS television series Madam Secretary, but he displayed them magnificently last night at Lynn University.  Jan McArt, producer of the highly popular Live at Lynn series literally had to send a car and plane to fetch Erich off the set of Madam Secretary (which is filmed in New York City) to get him on the stage of the Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn for 'A Perfect Evening with Erich Bergen'. Jan also has to get him back to NYC after his matinee performance the following day at Lynn for the filming of this season's last episode of the the TV show. 

They are a whirl wind of songs and comedy and the the eye of the Will & Anthony entertainment hurricane made landfall at The RRAZZ Room in Boca Raton last night and Broadwayworld was there.  Check out the photos.

Last night at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, the acoustically perfect Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr. Concert Hall was host to one of the most beautiful voices on the planet...that of five time Tony-Award winner Audra McDonald.

A 90th Birthday party for Marilyn Maye became an impromptu cabaret performance that will forever remain in the musical memories of the Palm Beach folks that were present at Dick Robinson's party for Ms Maye. 

Last night, Broadway and TV star Mandy Gonzalez, on "vacation" from Hamilton, brought her tour celebrating "Fearless" - her remarkable debut solo recording album which bridges pop and R&B to the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center in Aventura, Florida. Her concert also included a performance with North Miami Students who joined her on select songs from the album.

Stephen Sondheim's 'I'm Still Here' is her anthem, but it would also be accurate to say 'We're Still Here' as South Florida music lovers packed the Kravis Center last night for a Maestro Michael Feinstein and Kravis Center Pops Orchestra concert titled First Ladies of Song. Arguably the first lady of song, the incredible Marilyn Maye was Michael's guest in a exciting evening of music as The Kravis Center pulled out all the stops for Marilyn's 90th Birthday.

Talented dynamic people always seem to find each other. I don't know who found who first, but the uber talented Jennifer Diamond and the dynamic creative Richard Jay-Alexander combined forces a while back and Jennifer's debut performance at Green Room 42 last night was something extra special.

Like a graceful matador who has complete control of the engagement and can dramatically move and dominate an arena, Chita Rivera brought her talent, magic and super Broadway stardom to the stage of Feinstein's/54 Below last night and here are some of the photos.

Hooray For Hollywood (Richard A. Whiting) will start off the evening tonight at Carnegie Hall as Maestro Steven Reineke leads The New York Pops in an evening of The Best of Hollywood Blockbuster Film Scores.   You can't get a ticket on Fandango or use your movie pass, but you can possibly snag a ticket at Carnegie Hall for this spectacular music event.  The orchestra was rehearsing this afternoon. The room was once again sold out for the final show of Desmond Child's final show of his first New York City appearance since his club days at Reno Sweeney and The Bottom LIne. Broadwayworld was there, check out the photos. The singer/songwriter has written hits for everyone from Bon Jovi to Aerosmith, from Ricky Martin to Katy Perry. He has even written for KISS, Cher, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Michael Bolton, and more.

The toughest thing about writing about Rex Reed is realizing that Rex Reed, arguably one of the greatest film and entertainment critics to ever use a pen might read it.

The Footlighters Club presented their Entertainer of The Year and Lifetime Achievement Award to Little Anthony (Gourdine) at a fundraiser for The Footlighters Foundation which aids indigent entertainers and musicians yesterday and Broadwayworld attended.

Happy Days Were Here Again at Lynn University last night because Ann Hampton Callaway sang the Barbra Streisand Songbook at Jan McCart's Live at Lynn Series. Arguably, one of the finest performers in the music world, Ann is also a composer and lyricist and her songs can be heard on seven of Barbara Streisand's albums. If you happened to be at Barbra's wedding to James Brolin you know that Ann's lyrics were sung by Barbra to the groom.

The elegant and chic atmosphere of The Royal Room at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach had all the excitement of the glory days of Dean, Frank & Sammy at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas last night.

Jerry Herman lives a few miles away in Miami and had to cancel a surprise appearance last night but his glorious music and lyrics, sung by some of the best voices in show business filled the air in this great venue in the City of Aventura. Klea Blackhurst, Scott Coulter, Jason Graae, and Debbie Gravitte some of Broadway's most acclaimed artist were the cast in 'Jerry Herman, The Broadway Legacy Concert' produced by ASCAP's Michael A. Kerker. Jerry may not have given the audience a surprise Valentine's Day visit but they will long remember Jason Graae singing 'I Won't Send You Roses' from Mack & Mabel.
