Sheryl Lee Ralph performed 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' at the Super Bowl last night. Ralph recently won an Emmy for Abbott Elementary. Jesus Piece is composed of vocalist Aaron Heard, guitarists David Updike and John Distefano, bassist Anthony Marinaro and drummer Luis Aponte. Formed in Philadelphia in 2015, the band released a trio of EPs (the S/T EP, 3 Song Tape and the Malice at the Palace split) before delivering their 2018 debut LP for Southern Lord Records, Only Self.

With the highly successful release of her sophomore album Kentucky Blue, singer-songwriter Brit Taylor is fulfilling a life-long dream to perform on the coveted and iconic Grand Ole Opry.  Taylor, the eastern Kentucky native, who cut her teeth as a child on the Kentucky Opry, will step into the circle where all country music royalty has stood.

Produced alongside Hugo M. Hardy (Poppy Ajudha, tinyumbrellas, David Gray, Sfven), 'Hurts' sees Mychelle engaging more closely with her indie, folk and alternative influences. In a vein similar to Corinne Bailey Rae, Lianne La Havas, Michael Kiwanuka and Sade’s rootsier offerings.

The album offers the first collection of compositions written by Josh Peters and Joshua Thomson informed by the Arab and Turkish maqamat/makamlar modal systems. The duo composed this offering with rhythms reminiscent of west Africa, Morocco, and the Arabian Peninsula which can be heard within songs “Basalt,” and the title track “Hadal.”

Highlights include a number of acts coming from overseas, including performances by UK artists Chubby & the Gang and Vivron Vavron, Australian bands CIVIC, Dippers, 1-800-Mikey, TV Repairmann, Vintage Crop and C.O.F.F.I.N., Denmark’s The Courettes, Japan’s The Smog, and Lewsberg from the Netherlands, among others.

Elektra Recording group Saint Motel have announced the dates and details for the first leg of their 2023 tour, The Awards Show. The very special trek will give fans the power to choose what the musicians play with nightly fan-voted setlists, promising an experience unlike any other tour the quartet have embarked upon.

Tonight, Sarah Silverman kicks off her guest host week of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The actress and comedian’s debut tonight is a part of the roster of comedy greats and all-star correspondent and contributors guest hosting the next chapter of the award-winning late night franchise in the coming weeks. 

Paddington director Paul King will direct the upcoming Fred Astaire biopic starring Tom Holland. Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall is writing the film. Holland played the title role in the stage adaptation of Billy Elliot in 2008. Paul King is also directing the upcoming musical movie telling the origin story of Willy Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet.

Billy Strings will extend his 2023 headline tour through this summer including newly confirmed shows at Norfolk’s Chartway Arena, Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion (two nights), Portland, ME’s Thompson’s Point (two nights), Knoxville’s Knoxville Civic Coliseum and Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater (two nights) among others.

Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear have joined the creative team of Fred & Ginger, working with Marius de Vries and Mark Sonnenblick to recreate the couple's famous musical moments. Tony-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon is now set to choreograph the dance numbers. Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley will play Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers.

A band dancing between Brighton and Bristol, GUILT have released their debut single ‘Swerve’ independently, and is making its radio debut tonight on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe. The quad features three members of Exeter deathcore group, Drifted, Harry Davies, Jay Tidmarsh-Watts, and Ben Hampshire, alongside Forrest Daley.

Multi-platinum, four-time GRAMMY-nominated rock band Goo Goo Dolls revealed the second leg of their The Big Night Out Tour with special guests Fitz and The Tantrums. The newly announced dates will kick off this fall at The Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene, OR on September 12th, while O.A.R. will be special guests during the first leg this summer.

Reading like a short story from visionary science fiction author Philip K. Dick (“A Scanner Darkly,” “Electric Dreams”), the release of “No Other You” continues the album’s retro-futuristic, dystopian narrative that revolves around a fictional machine (the 'Hypnogogue') that extracts music directly from subconscious dreams.
