You love Broadway. I know you do. After all, you're here on BroadwayWorld. You love Broadway, and the chances are good that you love Andrew Lloyd Webber. Even if you're scoffing, chances are still good you love the 'Lord'. After all, no other composer has hit the high notes ALW has. Hit after hit, he's made some of contemporary musical theatre's most iconic moments and has four show currently on the boards. Well, I'm simply wild about the man and his music. We decided to celebrate ALW at Sessions recently we gathered a line up of Broadway big wigs from Great Comet, Lion King, Pippin, Les Mis and more. Check out Lauren Zakrin, Courtney Bassett, Jelani Remy, Andrew Mayer, Matt Rossell, Mike Schwitter and more loving up on some Lloyd Webber.

Oh how we love our Broadway stars. We love 'em, love 'em, love 'em! But once a month we say, enough with the big beautiful Broadway stars and we open the mic up to some of the most talented up and coming singers in town. And that's just what we did recently and we think you'll enjoy the results! Write these names down, you'll be hearing more from them, guaranteed.

We all know that February is Black History Month, but did we all take a moment to reflect and celebrate? Well we did just that, Broadway-style, at Sessions on February 23rd. Not only did we invite a starry roster of Broadway's best and brightest to share music representing the influence, importance and impact of African American legacy on Broadway, but we also paid homage to some Broadway trailblazers like Diahann Carroll, Ben Vereen, "Stokes" and more. We even challenged our audience to "name that African American Tony winner," which of course gave us the opportunity to bask in the glorious voices of Melba Moore, Hinton Battle, Heather Headley, Ted Ross, Jennifer Holiday and many more. Nothing could be more fitting the day after the Oscar's than celebrating our recent evening with the stars of Cirque Du Soleil's Paramour. Paramour stars Ruby Lewis, Ryan Vona, Bret Shuford, Sheridan Mouawad, Nick Cartell and Katrina Cunningham dazzled like movie land's gilded statue. Add to the starry mix, Elf's Arthur Ross, vocalist Shakiera Sarai and pint-sized diva Isabella Koster, and we may as well have rolled out the red carpet. Enjoy this Oscar worthy performances from the star's of Broadway's Hollywood themed musical/acrobatic hybrid.

The Broadway community is nothing if not a family. I was honored recently to welcome my family, my  #WAMFAM to Broadway Sessions. WAM= Whole Artist Management. Spearheaded by Rich Martino and Mike Cruz, WAM boasts a talented and diverse roster which brought us performers from Kinky Boots, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridges of Madison County, Bullets Over Broadway, Great Comet, Avenue Q, A Christmas Story, Wicked, Rock of Ages, Three Penny Opera, The Color Purple and more. And they sure did put the WAM in WAM BAM THANK YOU, um, BROADWAY. 

It seems like just yesterday that Broadway Con was all the rage here in NYC. Thousands of theatre fans descended on the  Big Apple to bask in all things Broadway. We invited these fans to celebrate the weekend with an unofficial closing night ALL OPEN MIC PARTY! Friends who had never sung on stage before drank down some courage and took the stage, talent we hadn't had the opportunity to meet before dazzled us and some old friends showed up to show 'em how we do it here in NYC. The result is beautiful. Check out these new friends from around the country and across the globe. 

We did it. We survived another holiday season and we're smack dab in the reality of 2017. That means a lot of things, but it also means that Broadway Sessions is BACK! And what better way to hit the ground running than with the cast of Great Comet! Enjoy performances by Denee Benton, Mary Page Nance, Nick Choksi, Blaine Krauss, Lauren Zakrin, Billy Kiessling, Heath Saunders, Andrew Mayer, Pearl Rhein, Brad Giovanine. We even got to know the cast better through trivia, games and even a live action stage combat demonstration.  Plus our "Rising Stars" Constantine Pappas and Claire Saunders.

We here at Broadway Sessions went all out to celebrate this holiday season with our annual All Star Holiday Show Spectacular. Be prepared for kids, puppets, balloons, famous drag queens and so much more. Starring Paige Davis (Chicago), Jinkx Monsoon and Alaska (RuPaul's Drag Race), Frankie James Grande (Rock of Ages), Charl Brown (Motown), Betsy Struxness (Hamilton), Adrianna Hicks (The Color Purple), Leslie Becker (Amazing Grace), Aaron Young (Fiddler on the Roof), Bryan Fenkart (Memphis, Nerds), Gaelen Gilliland (Honeymoon in Vegas), Adinah Alexander (Kinky Boots), Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Matthew Marks (Book of Mormon), Molly Tynes (Pippin), Nathan Lucrezio (Aladdin), Devin Ilaw (Les Mis), Zurin Villanueva and CK Edwards (Shuffle Along) the kids from Matilda, Imari Hardon and the cast of Avenue Q. And of course, our signature 12 Days of Christmas!

The night was 'sweet' indeed recently as Broadway Sessions welcomed cast members from The New Group's hit revival of Sweet Charity. Cast members Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Joel Perez, Donald Jones Jr., James Brown III and Cody Williams performed, told stories and delighted the audience. The evening also featured performance by vocalist Leeanna Rubin. Enjoy highlights here!

Well, here we are friends, smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. And some of us pack more Christmas into a day than other do all season. That's why we recently invited cast members from a certain "Spectacular" to join us for an evening of "non holiday" themed music and stories. We all know that Broadway can be a fickle lady from time to time, tossing shows to and fro. Last season's Shuffle Along was critically lauded and ten times nominated for Tonys and then it was gone. Poof. I'm sure many of us have read articles about the whys and wherefores, but the fact is the show was great and filled with amazing talent. We wrangled some Shuffle alums together for an unforgettable night of music, laughs and TAP DANCING!!!! There are things that you look forward to... Christmas, birthdays, dental cleanings. For us at Broadway Sessions, we always look forward to our once monthly ALL OPEN MIC parties. And boy did we have a doozy a couple weeks back. Showman Anthony Fett took the reigns as host and some of NYC's best voices sang deep into the night. Be a part of the magic right here...

The cast of CATS was simply 'purr-fect' (see what I did there?) at their recent visit to Broadway Sessions. Cast members took to  their songs like cats to cream (oh, dear God), as well as giving us insight in the complicated and ever so flushed out dramaturgy of the CATs society (who likes who, who fights who etc.). Besides fantastic performances cast members helped our audience find their inner Cat with makeup tutorials and choreography lessons..the 'kitten caboodle'. WICKED! I've got your attention now haven't I? Well, Wicked is a big word in my part of the world and maybe in yours too. 13 years ago I was honored to be a part of the original Broadway cast of the Oz-inspired blockbuster (you may have even heard my work on track #2 asking 'Glinda, is it true you were her friend?… but I digress).  At Broadway Sessions we like to celebrate Wicked Day (along with another spooky holiday) with ELPHABALL! Our salute to all things Wicked, featuring all women who have played the famously misunderstood green girl, Elphaba. Our 2nd annual ElphaBall was in a word, magic. 

Things got real rocky at Broadway Sessions recently as cast members from multiple companies of Rock of Ages reunited to slay their favorite rock n' roll tunes! ROA alums Tony LePage, Tess Alves, Cody Scott Lancaster, Katie Goffman, Danny McHugh and Jessica McHugh shredded faces along with 'Rising Star' KiKi Davis. Check out the beautiful carnage here!
