The Players Inaugurates New Series 'From Script To Screen'

The Players, the city's fabled social club for the dramatic arts and its patrons, this week kicks off a new conversation series for members in its Gramercy Park clubhouse.

From Script to Screen will be a periodic series hosted by Player Alex Dinelaris, Oscar-winning screenwriter of Birdman and co-producer of The Revenant. In the opening evening on Thursday, March 21, Dinelaris will interview Grammy and Tony-nominated composer Frank Wildhorn.

Dinelaris and Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie & Clyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel) will discuss the process of re-imagining a hit Broadway musical as a film production. Special musical guests Deborah Cox, Laura Osnes, Matthew James, and Bonnie Milligan will be featured as part of the conversation.

Subsequent editions of the series will include Alex Dinelaris in conversation with a wide range of creative professionals, sharing the challenges of bringing projects from inception to an audience.

The Players is among New York's oldest private clubs, dedicated to promoting social interaction among members of the dramatic professions, literary and visual artists, and patrons of the arts. Renowned actor Edwin Booth deeded his Gothic Revival mansion at 16 Gramercy Park South to the club in 1888, along with his extensive library and collections of art and theatrical memorabilia.

In recent years, The Players has experienced its most significant membership growth in generations, with expanded programming, social events, and member services. Its tradition of amiable socializing among members continues to make the clubhouse a destination for arts lovers and celebrated artists.

The Players celebrates the rich cultural life of New York City with exclusive member-only events that include live performances, readings by leading authors and playwrights, film screenings, and dining in its famous Grill room.
