New Musical, WE ARE AMEENA, Will Have Industry Reading

The new rock musical, We Are Ameena, will hold an invitation-only, developmental reading, March 28th & 29th, that features award winning actor of stage and screen Harsh Nayyar (A Meeting by the River, An Ordinary Muslim, Gandhi, Hidalgo), alongside Aladdin's Trent Saunders, Stephanie Gibson (Cinderella, Charlie and the Chocolate Factor, The Adams Family), Samantha Gershman (Jekyll & Hyde tour), and Victor Verhaeghe (Boardwalk Empire).

We Are Ameena features an original book by Tarik Akaaboune, Adam Karsten, Alma Moya; music by Nicola Vazquez, additional music by John Deley; lyrics by Nicola Vazquez, Adam Karsten, John Deley, Billy Seidman and Pete Miser; musical arrangements by John Deley; and direction by Adam Karsten. The show was created by the creative partnership of choreographer/director Karen Sieber and Adam Karsten. General Management is by Simpson & Longthorne Theatricals and Stage Management by Molly Braverman; associate direction by Ricardo Marques; script consulting by Mohammad Alahmad; dramaturgy by Jarreth J. Merz; and the producing team include A2K Theatricals, Ricardo Marques, and Littlelion Productions.

We Are Ameena follows the struggles of two families. From Syria to America: families, cultures and hearts collide in this timely soul/rock musical. Through the eyes of a young American girl we witness how ignorance can lead to destruction.

The all-star cast also features Ziad Alnamky, Will Branner (Bat Out of Hell tour), Ani Djirdjirian (The Office! A Musical Parody), C.J. Eldred (Book of Mormon tour), Layan Elwazani (The Band's Visit), Usman Ali Ishaq, Jeff Gorti, Heather Parcells (Chorus Line, Neverland, Tuck Everlasting), David Patterson (Les Liaisons Dangereuses), Kaye Tuckerman (The Donna Summer Musical), and introducing Keeley Karsten.
