Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit musical School of Rock - The Musical is entering its second smashing year on Broadway with a new class of cast members. Comedic actor Eric Petersen just assumed the role of wannabe rock star, Dewey Finn, last night, November 7, 2016. The Kid Band, who perform Andrew Lloyd Webber's score live at every performance, now includes new cast members Rachel Katzke as Katie the bass player and Walden Sullivan as Lawrence the keyboardist, along with returning cast members, Brandon Niederauer as Zack the guitarist and Raghav Mehrotra as Freddy on drums. Additionally, Olivia Chun assumes the role of super serious band manager Summer, Steven Booth assumes the role of Ned, Annabelle Wachtel plays Marcy, Terrance Bell, Jr. plays Mason, Chloe Bryanwill plays Madison, and Ellie Kim joins the cast as a swing. They say that breaking up is hard to do; most certainly. But with writers such as George Gershwin, Joni Mitchell, Adam Guettel, Adele, we find that skies can be sunny blue or grey, and goodbyes can be happy. Songwriters have looked for ways to express the angst of people's need to be joined and separate at the same time. Todd and Stacy are masters at bringing honesty and life to their lyrics. (more...)

Based on the hit 1990 romantic drama film of the same name, GHOST, a timeless fantasy about the power of love, had its Brazilian premiere at Teatro Bradesco in Sao Paulo. The plot centers on lovers Sam and Molly, who are attacked as they are returning to their apartment. When Sam dies he becomes caught between the real world and the next. Molly is in danger and Sam cannot leave her. A phony storefront medium, Oda Mae Brown, helps Sam to get in touch with Molly to warn her. (more...)

John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, who has been called 'hip with a wink' by Town & Country, 'madly creative' by the Los Angeles Times and 'the genial genius of the guitar' by The Toronto Star brought his Swing Seven to Birdland this past week and Broadwayworld was there for his closing night.  Son of the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, New Jersey native John Pizzarelli has become one of the most recognizable faces and voices in contemporary jazz. John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader, known around the world for the cool jazz flavor he brings to classic standards, late-night ballads, and each of his hugely entertaining live performances and masterful recordings. His most recent CD release, Rockin' In Rhythm, combines the enduring work of Duke Ellington with Pizzarelli's incredible ability to reinterpret the Great American Songbook. Rockin' In Rhythm is the follow up to Pizzarelli's critically-acclaimed 2008 release, With A Song In My Heart - John Pizzarelli Sings the Music of Richard Rodgers, which featured Don Sebesky's Grammy-nominated arrangement of 'Johnny One Note.'
