BroadwayWorld speaks to comedian Gordon Southern about his 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show Long Story Short.

Tell us a bit about Long Story Short

It's a show that I developed in Australia last year. It's about families, dairy produce, growing up surrounded by cars and about how you shouldn't always meet your heroes.

What was the inspiration for the show?

My dad developed symptoms of dementia and I thought "What would be a REALLY hard subject to write a hilarious comedy show about?" It's taken a while, but I think I've got the balance right.

What have you been up to since your last visit to the festival?

A trio of festivals and a brace of TV shows in Australia this year- so much fun... Don't get me wrong, I love Edinburgh, but Portobello beach isn't quite as enticing as some of the Oz ones. Some gigs in Europe too, although some silly vote the English did might jeopardise those soon!

Do you think you know what to expect from the Fringe?

You think you do but it's always changing and evolving. The Edinburgh Fringe is a capricious slinky and no mistake.

Who would you recommend comes to see Long Story Short?

Anyone who's ever been part of a family, or is curious as to what that might be like. Any Costco members or people concerned about dementia or Alzheimer's would be advised to come along too. Oh. And comedy fans. It's good comedy
