Also when I saw footloose a few years ago I saw the understudy for Ren and he was really good. At that point I wasn't in to all the Broadway stars and who was in the show I was just going to see a Broadway show. I loved the u/s whos name I don't know off the top of my head but he was really good. I left the theater not wanting to see whoevre was the Ren normaly. So I guess thats what you mean. How this lovely creature managed to accomplish this herculian task with understudy rehearsals being as minimal as they are, was so beyond me I actually entertained the notion they must have lied, that was actually Claire Higgins up there, she must have arrived at the last moment or something. The rest of MS Sandra Shipley's work was as flawless as her first 10 minutes. A beautiful, layered, grounded performance. She actually had the usually unresponsive Lincoln Center subscribers standing at the curtain call.
