Set in modern day New York City, Ghost The Musical is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Walking back to their apartment one night, Sam and Molly are mugged, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next and unable to leave Molly, who he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her.

Based on the Novel by Gregory Maguire, the music and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell) with a Book by Winnie Holzman. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked follows these two unlikely friends and college roomates grow into very different women: The Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Author of A Doll's House, Henrik Ibsen not only tackled scandals, he created them. Ghosts' scathing commentary on 19th-century morality sparked a fury when it was first produced. In this translation by American icon Lanford Wilson (Burn This), Ibsen's tale of mothers and sons, moral hypocrisy, and the dangers of secrets passed from one generation to the next remains as incendiary as ever.

In these concerts, the conductor will take you inside the music and reveal many fascinating details. Have you ever wondered if there was a story being told by the music or if the piece was revolutionary when it was composed? The conductor and your PSO will spend the first half of the concert explaining and demonstrating the secrets behind the music. Then, after intermission, you will hear the complete performance of the music with an enriched understanding of its meaning.
